Paradise Brew 1/3: Wicked Smaht

FAU student-athletes hit 17 consecutive semesters with a cumulative GPA better than 3.0

Good morning. Florida Atlantic University student-athletes posted a 3.269 cumulative grade point average during the fall semester, the 17th consecutive semester with a GPA better than 3.0, and the second consecutive fall semester that both the men's and women's teams were collectively above 3.0.

Each women's sport had a GPA better than 3.0, led by 3.792 for beach volleyball and 3.790 for women's golf. Men's tennis recorded a 3.519 GPA to lead all men's teams. In total, 18 of the 21 intercollegiate teams were above a 3.0 GPA.

"It makes me so proud to see our student-athletes continue to excel at a high level in the classroom," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White. "We have embraced a culture of winning both on and off the field, and it was evident again with a fall-semester record of 326 Owls above a 3.0 GPA.”

🔼 The Owls (5-8, 0-2 AAC) battled for a full 40 minutes against the SMU Mustangs (7-6 1-1 AAC), falling just short 57-52 in the final minute on Thursday in Dallas.

"Tough game,” said Owls head coach Jennifer Sullivan. “The same MO of our team so far has just been being able to get stops. I think we defended at a high level and threw a lot of different things at them, but just trying to capitalize on the offensive end of the floor, finding ways to finish and score.”

"Really proud of Janeta [Rozentale],” Coach Sully went on to say, as Rozentale had the second-best number of rebounds of her career at 19. “She was like a woman possessed. She had 14 rebounds at the half, and we told the team at halftime that not only was that incredible, but that we just needed more from everyone else, and then Dyllan [Hanna] turned around and finished with 13.”

Three Owls registered double-figure performances in the contest, led by Rozentale, who posted her fourth double-double of the season—followed by Rose Caverly and Mya Perry

The Owls will continue their first AAC road trip of the year on Sunday, visiting the North Texas Mean Green for a 3pm ET tip inside The Super Pit and on ESPN+
