🔼 Winning Before Beginning. Ahead of their highly anticipated 2023-24 campaign, FAU men's basketball team has been ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 preseason poll. Following a season that saw the Owls win the most games in the nation and capture a conference championship as well as their first Final Four berth, the team is rewarded with their first appearance in an AP Top 25 preseason poll.
The Owls are one of 17 teams to open the season in the AP Top 25 after also being ranked in the final AP poll last season, taken before the start of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
During last season, Florida Atlantic was a part of the AP Top 25 for the first time and was on the list five times throughout, reaching as high as No. 19.
Head coach Dusty May and squad will get the opportunity to face off against multiple fellow members of the Top 25 during their non-conference portion of the season. They are set to face off against No. 25 Illinois in the Jimmy V. Classic at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 5 and will play No. 12 Arizona in Las Vegas's T-Mobile Arena on Dec. 23.
Just 48 season tickets remain to see a top-10 team. In order to lock up your seats to witness the Winning In Paradise at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, call the FAU ticket office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS or fill out the interest form.

🔼 On The Offensive. Junior quarterback Daniel Richardson became the second Florida Atlantic University football player to be honored in as many weeks by the American Athletic Conference. Richardson earned his recognition as the Offensive Player of the Week, following teammate and last week's honoree Logan Lupo, who was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Richardson completed 31 of 38 passes for a career-high 382 yards and three touchdowns against one interception to help Florida Atlantic break open what had been a one-score game at halftime. His efforts guided what turned into a 56-14 victory over host USF. The Miami native led an FAU offense that scored the final 35 points of the game as Florida Atlantic improved to 2-0 in AAC play.
Richardson also received the honor of being one of the eight quarterbacks nationwide named the Manning Award Stars of the Week, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Fans can vote HERE or on social media @ManningAward until Thursday at 10am ET, when the person with the most votes will be named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Richardson's talents will be called upon once again this week when the Owls play host to UTSA for Homecoming weekend. UTSA, the 2022 Conference USA champions, will head to Boca Raton for a 6pm ET ESPN+ kick, with the Owls looking to remain unblemished in conference play while defending a perfect record against the Roadrunners. 🤔 PARADISE TRIVIA
Four scored. With the recent announcement that the FAU Owls are ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 preseason poll, we’re going hoops-heavy in today’s Brew.
This past year’s Final Four was wild, and many of you likely remember busting your brackets long before you thought you would. It was the first time in recent memory that no team better than a 4-seed made the Final Four.
Our question today—what was the last year before 2023 when this occurred?
If you think you know the answer, scroll down to the bottom to find out.
🦉 ONE BIG THING
Water World. Florida Atlantic University's success on the diving board continued with another weekly award. Freshman Trevor Kuhn has been named Atlantic Sun Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
It is the first award of Kuhn's collegiate career and the third diving award for FAU during the 2023-24 season. This team is nothing if not consistent, as an Owl diver has won a weekly honor after all three competitions they have competed in so far.
The winner for this week was a no-brainer. Kuhn dominated in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive, giving the Owls significant scoring during their 184-47 win over Bellarmine.
On the 3-meter, Kuhn posted a monster score of 339.00, giving him an A cut in the NCAA qualifying zones. On the 1-meter, his score of 256.73 improved from his entry score by 7.43 points.
Kuhn and the rest of the divers will next compete at the University of Miami on Friday, Nov. 3.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER
Answer: 1979!
This past year was the first time since 1979 that no team better than a 4-seed made the Final Four, and three of the four teams had never previously been to the Final Four! UConn was the one program that had been to the Final Four before, having done so six times now.
With FAU men’s basketball’s star on the rise, anything can happen.
🦉 Have a great Wednesday, y’all.
