Paradise Brew 10/9: Raining Supreme

Today, we're basking in the conference debut win and Larry McCammon's wheels.

Good morning. What an entrance! Florida Atlantic’s offense put up 378 yards, the defense finished with a pair of sacks and interceptions, and special teams even got in on the action with a 71-yard punt at the end of the game to give the Owls their first win in the American Athletic Conference. Not even a torrential downpour could rain on our parade this weekend.

🔼 That’s What He Said. Although the win over Tulsa is still fresh, FAU head coach Tom Herman and some senior players have had time to reflect on what this means for the program.

Of their growth, Herman said, “I am really proud of the way that we responded to that adversity. I told the guys that the team that jogged into FAU Stadium and Schnellenberger Field four weeks ago would not have won that game, and we did.”

“We are going to celebrate this,” he went on to say. “This is the first win in our program’s history in this conference, and that is something to celebrate, especially against a team that has resided in this conference since its inception.”

Senior linebacker Desmond Tisdol also talked about the ways they’ve improved, saying, “We have been practicing to flush the bad moments that we had in those games [Illinois, Clemson, Ohio] and come practice hard, practicing those situations.”

One of the clear stars of the game, running back Larry McCammon, put a fine point on it, saying, “Today was a statement game for us to prove to everybody that we can run the ball.”

Here’s everything you need to know to watch, listen to, and experience the game!

🔼 Swimming In Ws. Another day in the pool, another win for FAU swimming & diving. The men’s team remained on top for the second day of the TYR Fall Classic on Saturday while the women nabbed an impressive second-place finish out of six.

🔼 Two Good. Second half goals from Victor Claudel and Zach Hassell guided FAU men's soccer to a 2-0 win over UAB last night. The visiting Blazers had an opportunity to get on the board with just over a minute left in regulation, but their spot kick was pulled wide of the goal. Rotem Fadida finished with three saves for the Owls to earn his third clean sheet of the season.

🔼 Eh, More Like A Light Shower. FAU volleyball secured a huge statement win on Friday as they earned a dominant four-set victory (25-19, 25-17, 25-27, 25-17) over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. While the team played well across the board, it was Arianna Beckham (21 kills and 12 digs—her first double-double) and Valeria Rosado (16 kills and 19 digs—her fourth double-double of the season) who really led the charge.

Answer: Tied for fourth!

There are only four players in college football that have booted a punt further than Logan Lupo’s 71-yard bomb from Saturday.
