Paradise Brew 12/6: Pulling Rank
FAU men's basketball moves up to No. 11 in the AP poll and NCAA rankings.
Good morning. The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team has moved up to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25 as well as in the NCAA Net Rankings posted on Monday.
This past week, the Owls went undefeated in The Field of 68 Tip-Off, where they played two games in three days. Florida Atlantic's victory over Liberty 83-58 snapped the Flames undefeated season, while the comeback win against the Cougars 90-74 marked the first win in program history against Charleston.

🔼 Keep Rolling. Florida Atlantic women’s basketball (4-3) rolled to a 78-60 win over the St. Thomas Bobcats (5-2) on Tuesday evening at the Elly on Tuesday evening.
The Owls dominated the early stages of the game, opening with a 10-2 run and finishing the first quarter with a 12-point lead. Despite a strong response from the Bobcats in the second quarter, narrowing the gap to just three points at halftime, the Owls took control in the third quarter with a 27-10 run.
This surge, including a 3-pointer from Mya Perry, gave them an 18-point advantage heading into the final period. Although the Bobcats mounted a late rally, outscoring the Owls 8-2 in the closing minutes, it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
The Owls secured an 18-point victory with a final score of 78-60, maintaining their lead throughout the game. Four Owls registered double-digit performances, with Mya Perry leading the team with 19 points, Alexa Zaph with 15, Janeta Rozentale with 14, and Jada Moore with 13.
🔼 Back to the Drawing Board. The No. 11 Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team (7-2) came up just shy against No. 20 Illinois (7-1) on Tuesday evening in the opening game of the Jimmy V. Classic at Madison Square Garden, 98-89.
It was a valiant effort for the Owls, who battled the entire way and fought their way back from a double-digit deficit multiple times.
"Credit to Illinois, they exposed some of our weaknesses, and we have to go back to our drawing board and fix some things,” said head coach Dusty May. That is why you play these games, to learn more about yourself. We will be better because of this experience."
Florida Atlantic will have a week off from competition before regrouping for a home game at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 13, against FIU. The game will tip off at 7pm ET.
