Good Morning, FAU Family. The Florida Atlantic football team returned to the practice field on Tuesday, preparing for the home opener against Florida A&M, scheduled for 6 p.m. ET this Saturday.
The Owls and Rattlers have met once previously, with Florida Atlantic coming away with a 38-8 victory on October 30, 2004.
In Week 1's outing at Maryland, redshirt sophomore WR Asaad Waseem was the first to score for the Owls after collecting a 27-yard pass from redshirt junior QB Caden Veltkamp. Defensively, redshirt junior Leon Hart Jr. led FAU with 12 tackles.

🔼 Oli, By Golly. Florida Atlantic junior forward Oliver Moller-Jensen has been named to the American Conference weekly honorable mention list. He was previously the American Conference Rookie of the Week in 2023.
Moller-Jensen delivered in crunch time last Thursday against Jacksonville, scoring the game's only goal with 49 seconds remaining in the second half. No. 22 Florida Atlantic emerged from its season-opening homestand with a 3-0 record.
The Owls are back in action tomorrow as they begin a four-game road stretch at UNF. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

🔼 On the Receiving End. In early 2025, redshirt junior Easton Messer transferred to Florida Atlantic after he played his first three seasons at Western Kentucky. The wide receiver had a standout year in 2024, with 55 receptions for 793 yards and four touchdowns. Messer has now brought his talents to Boca Raton to reunite with his former QB, Caden Veltkamp, and first-year Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Zach Kittley, who recruited him at Western Kentucky. For Messer, this opportunity allowed him to play in an offense with which he is highly familiar.
That chemistry played off in the Owls' season opener at Maryland, where Messer had a program record-tying 15 receptions in College Park. His day's work is the most for any receiver in Week 1 and lists the junior receiver atop the country statistically.
🏈 Learn more about Messer’s years spent living abroad, his decision to choose football over soccer, and his hopes for this Owls team.

🔼 Our North Star. After helping lead the Owls to a 2-1 weekend at the Florida Atlantic Invitational, FAU libero Isabelle Northam was honored as an American Conference Honorable Mention selection. The honor marks the first American weekly award for the Owls this season and Northam's third career American Honorable Mention selection.
Northam anchored the Owls' back row this week, helping lead Florida Atlantic to a 2-1 weekend with sweeps over Kent State and Western Carolina. She registered a team-leading 49 digs, averaging an impressive 5.44 digs per set, while also dishing out eight assists across the Owls' three matches.

🔼 All Mics Are Hot. Florida Atlantic football celebrates its 25th season, while FAU Athletics hits another milestone with Inside the Owls' Burrow in its 10th season, showcasing all things FAU Athletics.

🔼 Oh, to Be Young. Florida Atlantic women's soccer’s Sloane Young has been named to the American Conference honorable mention list as one of the league's top five players for the week.
Young started Sunday’s win over Lipscomb early for the Owls with her second goal of the season in the first 23 minutes of the match. It was the sixth goal of her career at FAU.
The Owls travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on the Dolphins tomorrow at 7 p.m. before returning to Paradise to host Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 12, at noon on ESPN+.
