Head Coach Fernanda Nelson notched her 200th career win as the Florida Atlantic Owls earned their first American Conference win of the season, sweeping the East Carolina Pirates, 3-0, inside the Elly. Nelson improved to 200-170 (.541) as the Owls' leader.

STATS & NOTES

• Libero Isabelle Northam also recorded her 1,000th career dig in the win.

• Olivia Hart and Anna Hartman led the Owls offensively against the Pirates. Hart posted a team-best 14 kills, hitting .263, and added six digs, two aces, and two assists in the win.

🔼 Cleanest Sheets in Town. Florida Atlantic men's soccer improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the American Conference with a 2-0 shutout of FIU (4-3-2, 2-1) on Friday night. The Owls are 5-0 at the FAU Soccer Stadium and have not conceded a goal.

Mikkelsen finished with four saves and recorded his fifth clean sheet of the season (four solo, one combined). The Owls launched 15 shot attempts toward Van Haveren, with six on goal.

🔼 Pumpkin Spice But Make it Golf. Florida Atlantic women's golf begins its fall campaign today at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event will be hosted on the Red Tiger Course at Trump National Doral.

The Lineup
The Owls' first lineup of the fall will feature three returners and two newcomers. Juniors Charlotte Perkins and Giulia Scarcello are joined by sophomore Nancy Cox. Head Coach Heather Young also added graduate senior Carolin Alblas from NAIA powerhouse Keiser University and freshman Tina Genoulaz from France.

🔼 Our Owls > Their Owls. The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team closed out the month of September with a 3-2 win over Temple on Sunday afternoon.

The Owls of Florida Atlantic improved their record to 4-7-2, 1-2-1 after ending the afternoon with a win over Temple (4-9-0, 0-4-0) for their first American win of the season. The Owls started with sophomore Ashley Small in goal.

🔼 Full Circle Football. Florida Atlantic's Korel Smith joined the football program in 2016, garnered two conference championships in 2017 and 2019 and was a member of the Owls for three of the program's five bowl games. 

Smith then began his coaching journey, first at Western Kentucky, then at UT-Chattanooga, and now with his beloved Owls as a nickels coach.

🔼 Onward and Upward. The Florida Atlantic football team opened American Conference play with a 55-26 loss to Memphis at Flagler Credit Union Stadium on Saturday evening.

Facing a team receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, the Owls (1-3, 0-1) built a first half lead over the Tigers (5-0, 1-0) and found themselves within one score in the fourth quarter before their American foe pulled away.

🔼 Season Six For Scarlee. Scarlee Jean, a sixth-year offensive lineman, came to Florida Atlantic football in 2024 after being a part of two national championships at nearby Keiser.

Battling for a starting spot in 2024, Jean suffered a preseason injury that sidelined his starting plans. Despite the setback, Jean saw action in eight games and celebrated an outstanding collegiate career.

One month later, Jean received a call telling him he would have another year to play, if he chose to do so. By January, Jean had met the new coaching staff and was tying up the cleats for season six.
