🔼 Hats Off. The Florida Atlantic Owls volleyball team wrapped up non-conference play on Saturday, earning a four-set win over the Stetson Hatters, 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-21, 25-23), to capture the Owls Paradise Classic championship. The Owls improve to 8-4 on the season.
The Owls finished the weekend 3-0, capturing the Owls Paradise Classic Championship. Katelynn Robine and Madison Dyer were named to the Owls Paradise Classic All-Tournament Team. Robine received MVP honors. Four Owls recorded double-figure kills in the match, with Valeria Rosado leading the way with a match-high 15.
The Owls now set their sights on their AAC opener on Friday, Sept. 27, as they host the East Carolina Pirates. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
🔼 Time to Make Waves. The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2024-25 campaign against Indian River on Friday.
The women's team took the win, while the men's team staged an impressive day before ultimately falling to Indian River. Overall, the Owls saw contributions from newcomers and returners across the board.
The Owls will next participate in the TYR Fall Classic hosted by FIU on Friday, Oct. 4th, and Saturday, Oct. 5th.
🔼 A Close Call. Florida Atlantic men's soccer (2-3-1, 0-1 AAC) rallied from two goals down in the second half on Saturday night before ultimately conceding the winner to UAB (3-1-3, 1-0 AAC) in the waning minutes.
Florida Atlantic returns to action tomorrow in non-conference play against Jacksonville. They return home on Sunday, September 29, against Temple.
🔼 Rain, Rain, Go Away. Florida Atlantic women's golf had completed about nine holes on Sunday at the Schooner Fall Classic when rain suspended play for the day.
With the potential for more rain tonight and in the morning, two potential scenarios exist to complete the tournament, which will be shortened to 36 holes.
- Start round three at 9:30 a.m. CST and disregard the scoring for the second round.
- Resume round two at 11 a.m. CST and not play round three.
A decision will be made first thing this morning.
🔼 Onward We March. The Florida Atlantic football team fell to Connecticut on Saturday evening by a score of 48-14. With the loss to UConn (2-2), the Owls move to 1-3 on the season.
"There's a lot of room for improvement,” said head coach Tom Herman. “We have Wagner coming into town, followed by a bye week and seven conference games. We all know and are confident that we can win them, but we have shown that we need to play much better to do that."
The Owls return to Boca Raton for a Sept. 28 matchup against Wagner at FAU Stadium.
