Good Morning, FAU Fam. Shula Bowl XXIV kicks off Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+, with Florida Atlantic hosting FIU at Flagler Credit Union Stadium. Both teams arrive at 1-1 off their first wins of the season, and the Owls are riding momentum from a 38-30 takedown of Navy in which Caden Veltkamp threw for 386 yards and tied the program record with five touchdown passes.

Collin Rogers also made history that night, drilling a 60-yard field goal to set a new program mark. FAU holds a 17-5 edge in the all-time series and has won seven of the last eight meetings.

🔼 Tackle Hunger. Bring a box of cereal to Saturday's Shula Bowl and you'll walk away with a free ticket to a future FAU home game. The Owls are teaming with Boca Helping Hands for the fifth annual Tackle Hunger Game, commemorating Hunger Action Month with a cereal drive at the donation booth in Publix Paradise Plaza outside Gates 1 and 2, which opens at 3:30 p.m. The plaza also features a free concert from Jimmy Buffett tribute band the Caribbean Chillers, food trucks, inflatables, and games. Robes Law Group, the game's presenting partner, is donating $26 to Boca Helping Hands for every FAU tackle for loss this season.

🔼 Record Home Slate. Florida Atlantic men's basketball’s 2026-27 non-conference schedule is here, and it features a school-record eight home games, in-state rivalry matchups with FIU and Florida Gulf Coast, and five games against teams that reached the NCAA or NIT tournaments last season. The Owls open at home Nov. 2 against LIU, the defending Northeast Conference champion, before a trip to Wright State. Two showcases highlight December: the Hall of Fame Series Orlando against VCU on Dec. 12 and the inaugural Texas Legends College Classic in Frisco, where FAU faces Loyola Chicago and Colorado State. Fans get their first look at the squad at Paradise Madness on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

🔼 Making An Impact. ADT, headquartered in Boca Raton, honored local first responders during FAU’s Salute to Service night on Sept. 12 by donating $30,000 to the Boca Raton Police Foundation, Boca Raton Firefighter & Paramedic Benevolent Fund and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Foundation.

🔼 All-American Incoming. Florida Atlantic beach volleyball's incoming freshman class just got some national recognition. Molly DeCasas earned AVCA Junior Beach All-American Honorable Mention honors, one of just 24 athletes across eight states to make the list.

🔼 Owls In Week One. Four former Florida Atlantic players saw action in the NFL's opening week. James Pierre made an immediate mark in his Vikings debut, recording four tackles, two pass deflections, and a fourth-quarter interception to help seal a 39-22 win over Green Bay. Trey Hendrickson also debuted with a new team, generating eight pressures for Baltimore, THE third-most in the league. Azeez Al-Shaair led Houston with eight tackles, and Devin Singletary caught his first receiving touchdown since 2022 in the Giants' win over Dallas. Federico Maranges and Zaire Mitchell-Paden round out the group on practice squads.

🔼 Ladies Night Tips Off. Florida Atlantic men's basketball hosts Ladies Night on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Red & Blue Lounge inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. The evening includes a panel with current Owl players, activity stations, hors d'oeuvres, an open bar, and a wine and dessert hour to close things out. Single tickets are $100 with a pair going for $175, and sponsorships are available at various tiers. All proceeds support the FAU Foundation and the Men's Basketball 1.8 Club.

🔼 Owlflics of the Week. This week's Owlflics, presented by Baptist Health South Florida, captures Easton Messer and Ethan Ervin celebrating a big-time touchdown against Navy, Michel Tentchou getting hoisted by his teammates after his equalizer versus Charlotte, Sephora Joachim in action at North Dakota, Aiden Jones locked in on the sideline, and Lily Holden turning away a shot in Fargo.

🔼 Run Time. Florida Atlantic cross country heads to Tallahassee today for the Pre-Regionals meet at Apalachee Regional Park, the same course that will host the 2026 NCAA South Regionals. The men's 8K starts at 7:40 a.m. with the women's 6K at 8:20 a.m., and 17 Owls are set to run. FAU is coming off a season opener in Jacksonville where the women placed third among 19 teams and four runners posted new all-time top-10 marks. It's the first of three trips to Apalachee this season, with the FSU XC Invitational on the same course Oct. 9.

🔼 Five New Captains. Florida Atlantic swimming and diving has named its 2026-27 captains, and all five are wearing the title for the first time. Graduate student Amelia Robertson is the longest-tenured Owl of the group, joined by senior Nula Gow and junior diver Augusta Ness on the women's side, with juniors Jayden Repak and Leyton Roe representing the men. Gow owns the school record in the 200 breast, while Roe holds four school relay records and helped power the men's team to its first conference championship. Repak is also part of the record-setting 200 medley relay.
