🌴 This Week In Paradise
🦉 And much, much more

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 National Spotlight. The recognition keeps rolling in for Caden Veltkamp. The Florida Atlantic graduate quarterback was named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 on Monday, a weekly honor given to the top eight quarterback performances in the country. Veltkamp earned it after torching Navy for 386 yards and five touchdowns on 27-of-32 passing, tying his own single-game program record for scores. His 84 percent completion rate ranks second in school history for a single game. The selection also lands him on the award's midseason watch list.

🔼 Late Goal, League Nod. FAU men’s soccer’s Michel Tentchou's 84th-minute equalizer against Charlotte earned him American Conference Weekly Honorable Mention honors. The Florida Atlantic forward now leads the Owls with three goals and seven points on the season. FAU remains unbeaten at 2-0-4 and hits the road for its next two, starting Sunday at Memphis with an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN+.

🔼 Inside the Owls’ Burrow. Episode 5 of Inside the Owls' Burrow breaks down the 38-30 win over Navy with Zach Kittley, gets JK Johnson wired for sound at practice, goes off-script with Damarius McGhee in "Pads Off," and catches up with former standout receiver William Dukes. The episode airs tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. ET on The Spot, South Florida 39, and 6 p.m. ET on The Spot, South Florida 9.

🔼 Making An Impact. ADT, headquartered in Boca Raton, honored local first responders during FAU’s Salute to Service night on Sept. 12 by donating $30,000 to the Boca Raton Police Foundation, Boca Raton Firefighter & Paramedic Benevolent Fund and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Foundation.

🔼 This Week In Paradise. The rivalry is back in Paradise this Saturday as Florida Atlantic hosts FIU for Shula Bowl XXIV at 6 p.m., the 24th meeting between the two programs and the 13th in Boca Raton. Volleyball fills the days before it, hosting the Owls Paradise Classic with matches against Alabama State and Stetson on Friday and a Saturday rematch with the Hornets. Women's soccer opens American Conference play Thursday at 7 p.m., welcoming Charlotte to FAU Soccer Stadium after a two-game swing through North Dakota. Thursday also brings Inside the Owls' Burrow and the Coaches Radio Show at Duffy's. Full schedule here.

🔼 Dishing It Out. Maya Van Heyst racked up 145 assists across three matches last week to earn American Conference Setter of the Week, the first league weekly honor of the season for Florida Atlantic volleyball and the first of her career. Van Heyst averaged 11.15 assists per set while adding 25 digs, 10 kills, and six aces against No. 10 Florida, Troy, and Dayton. She posted her fourth double-double of the season against the Gators before setting a career best in the win over Troy.

🔼 Paradise Patrol Rolls On. The Owls are out in the community this week ahead of Shula Bowl XXIV. Today, the Paradise Patrol heads to the Publix on NE 5th Ave from noon to 2 p.m., and tomorrow brings Clematis by Night in West Palm Beach from 6-9 p.m., plus Inside the Owls' Burrow and the Coaches Radio Show at Duffy's. It all builds to Saturday, when FAU hosts FIU at 6 p.m. on Educators' Appreciation Day.

🔼 Back To Monroe. Florida Atlantic's Sept. 26 trip to ULM will kick at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+. It's the Owls' first meeting with the Warhawks since 2012, their final season in the Sun Belt Conference.

🔼 Slate Is Set. Florida Atlantic women's basketball has unveiled a 12-game non-conference schedule with seven games in Boca Raton. The Owls open on the road at Miami on Nov. 2 before a two-game homestand against Kennesaw State and South Alabama. Two home tournaments anchor the slate: the Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 27-28 against Western Kentucky and Buffalo, and the Holiday Classic on Dec. 19-20 against North Florida and Kent State. Rivalry week comes Dec. 5 with a trip to FIU. The American Conference schedule will be announced later this month.
