Good Morning, FAU Family. The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team finished non-conference play with a 4-0 win over North Dakota State on Sunday evening at FAU Soccer Stadium.
The Owls (3-6-1) took on the Bison (4-5-0) and scored two goals in each half on the way to the shutout victory.
Florida Atlantic got on the scoreboard early when a pass from Michelle Horan resulted in a goal by sophomore Hailey Santiago for her third of the season. In the 22nd minute of the match, Horan found Sloane Young to extend the lead to 2-0. At the end of the first 45 minutes, FAU totaled five shots, three of them on goal, and three saves.

🔼 A Very Worthy Effort. The Florida Atlantic football team fell to FIU in Shula Bowl XXIII on Saturday night by a score of 38-28.
Following a two-hour weather delay, both teams came out aggressively with 38 combined points in the first half. The Owls (1-2) recorded over 300 yards of offense in the opening 30 minutes to build a four-point lead before conceding to the Panthers (2-1) in the second half.
QB Caden Veltkamp finished with 300+ passing yards for the second week in a row, tallying a season-high 343.

🔼 Next: Owls V. Owls. Florida Atlantic men's soccer dropped a 2-0 road contest to No. 5 NC State on Saturday night. The Owls (4-2) hung tough with four shots in the first half, but the Wolfpack (5-0-1) jumped in front early in the second half and never looked back.
The Wolfpack have not conceded a goal so far this season in six games. At the other end, Alfred Mikkelsen recorded six saves on eight NC State shots on goal.
Florida Atlantic now looks ahead to the start of American Conference play on Sunday, Sept. 21. The Owls will travel to Philadelphia for a meeting with Temple.

🔼 Football By Design. As a child, Florida Atlantic linebacker Zyere Horton grew up around the game of football. His older brother, Izaiah Prouse-Lackey, is a former Florida State defensive back. From a young age, Horton had idolized his older brother, as he attended many of his games throughout his high school and collegiate careers.
As the youngest of five, Horton shares similar characteristics with his siblings. One characteristic in particular, his creativity, was derived from his brother Elijah. "Just seeing what he does daily, it gives me inspiration of how to see the world."
To express his creativity off the field, Horton has found a passion in graphic design. Since his high school years, Horton has edited pictures and videos of himself and other teammates.
