Good Morning, Owl Nation. Milan Tucker, a Florida Atlantic football transfer from Appalachian State, has been named to The Jet 2024 Award Preseason Watch List.
 
Tucker is expected to impact the Owls as a wide receiver and on special teams, coming to FAU as a 2022 Football Writers Association of America second-team All-American kick returner.
 
The Jet Award, named in honor of Heisman Trophy winner and Hall of Famer Johnny "The Jet" Rodgers, celebrates the electrifying talents of players who excel on punt and kickoff returns. The winner will receive the award at the Jet Award Gala on April 10, 2025.

🔼 Mixing it Up. FAU football reported to the Tom Oxley practice fields, the site where the program began in 2000, for their first practice of the 2024 season.
 
The alternate practice site provided an opportunity to take the team away from the comfort of their day-to-day facility, allowing the Owls to break the routine. The team will return to the Schmidt fields midway through the preseason.
 
One thing that was routine for the first time in 10 years was the continuity of the coaching staff. The Owls staff not only returned both coordinators, but they also returned nine of the ten coaches on last season's staff. This continuity provided for a crisper day-one practice and elevated the expectations of the players.

"The first person to thank is [Vice President and Director of Athletics] Brian White and our administration for giving us the support to have a first-class staff,” said head coach Tom Herman.

🔼 No One-Trick Owls. Seven Florida Atlantic men's tennis players earned ITA All-Academic Team honors. At the same time, the team garnered the team All-Academic Team honors.
 
The Owls posted the highest FAU male team GPA last spring and were awarded the ITA honor after posting a team GPA above 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
 
Team members who received individual honors were Alberto Colas, Gabriel Diaz, Jiri Jenicek, John Bernard, Juan Jalif, Mark Havlicek, and Simon Myslivec.

Volleyball Getting a Bump. This will serve as a great reminder that Florida Atlantic recently announced that they will open their 2024 campaign at home, hosting Bryant (19-12), Seton Hall (14-15), and Ball State (17-15) for the FAU Invitational on Aug. 30-31.
