Paradise Brew 8/6: FAU Football Duo Looms Large
FAU Football's Bryce Langston and Daughtry Richardson made Bruce Feldman's Top 101 College Football Freaks List for their unique traits, including extraordinary wingspans.
Good Morning, FAU Family. Two members of the Florida Atlantic football team, redshirt senior defensive tackle Bryce Langston and redshirt junior offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson, have been recognized on The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman's Top 101 College Football Freaks List for their elite athleticism and unique traits. FAU has had at least one player on the list for five consecutive seasons.
Langston was No. 35, with Feldman noting his "strong and explosive long arms" with a 6-7 wingspan. He has recorded a bench press of 425 pounds, power clean rep of 365, and vertical jump of 37 inches.
Richardson checks in at No. 78, with his 11-inch hands and 6-11 wingspan. At 6-5, 322 pounds, he has a recorded vertical jump of 35 inches and a 5.0 40.

We’re counting down the days to the return of Florida Atlantic football on August 30 at Maryland! Legendary Florida Atlantic football coach Lane Kiffin earned his 24th win as head coach during the 2019 season, and the victory over Southern Miss clinched the C-USA East title.

🔼 Put It On Shuffle. Florida Atlantic Head Baseball Coach John McCormack has announced three changes to the coaching staff for the 2026 season. Hunter Cooley has been promoted to Pitching Coach, Joey Bellini will join the Owls as Hitting Coach, and Braden Ostrander will step into Cooley's previous role as Director of Pitching Development.
Cooley has spent the last two seasons as a special assistant after a five-year playing career with the Owls from 2019-23. The Vero Beach native totaled 312 innings and a 4.58 career ERA in 70 total appearances on the mound.

🔼 Ice in His Veins. Florida Atlantic alum Jake Millan has signed a professional contract with the Glacier Range Riders of the Independent Pioneer League. Millan is the 19th former Owl to be signed to an active professional contract.
Millan played 135 games in his four-year FAU career, finishing with 21 home runs and 75 RBI. He had his best campaign in 2025 as a senior, starting 51 games at first base and racking up 10 homers and 44 RBI.
The first baseman is off to a fast start with the Range Rangers. In his first six games, he's 10-for-26 at the plate with two home runs, three doubles, and six RBI.

🔼 Book ‘Em. The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team was named a recipient of the 2024-25 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
The Owls excelled in the classroom during the academic year, finishing with a 3.68 GPA. Florida Atlantic was one of the three institutions to represent the American Conference (South Florida and Memphis).

🔼 Book ‘Em, Men’s Golf Edition. Florida Atlantic men's golf is one of 92 Division I schools to earn the PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award.
Seven Owls finished the spring semester with GPAs of 3.0 or better. Senior Jake Hibbert and sophomore Jack Brugman were named to the Dean's List. Hibbert and sophomore Andres Atrio were recently named Cobalt Golf All-American Scholars. The Owls logged a team GPA of 3.435.

🔼 More Props From the Pitch. The Florida Atlantic men's soccer team has been named a recipient of the 2024-25 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
A total of 742 soccer teams (303 men) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year. The Owls excelled in the classroom during the academic year, finishing with a 3.37 team GPA.

A Fest For the Rest. Florida Atlantic Athletics, in collaboration with the Florida Atlantic Division of Student Affairs, has announced plans for Fan Fest. The event, which is free and open to the public, is set for Saturday, Aug. 16, at Flagler Credit Union Stadium, beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
The event includes activities outside the stadium in the Fan Zone, with stadium gates opening at 7 p.m., for events inside the stadium. A spectacular lighted drone show caps the night at approximately 8:45 p.m.
