It’s Football Week, FAU Family. The Florida Atlantic volleyball team wrapped up preseason play on Saturday, taking a four-set win over Miami Dade, 4-0, inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.

FAU now sets its sights on its regular season opening weekend as the Owls get set to host the Florida Atlantic Invitational against Kent State, Texas Tech, and Western Carolina on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29-30. The Owls' regular-season opener is on Friday, Aug. 29, at noon ET vs. Kent State.

We’re counting down the days to the return of Florida Atlantic football on August 30 at Maryland! In honor of the countdown hitting 5 days, we look at FAU football player and #5, Deshaun Batiste. A junior transfer from Tulane, he saw action in 12 games last season, tallying 10 tackles, including 2.5 for a loss of eight yards. As a freshman at Troy, Batiste recorded eight tackles in five games.

🔼 Huddle Up For This News. The fall schedule is set for the 2025 Florida Atlantic Coaches Show, which debuts Thursday night at the Duffy's Sports Grill of Boca Raton.

Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Zach Kittley is the featured guest throughout the fall, along with host and voice of the Owls Ken LaVicka. Next week's debut show also includes Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White and Defensive Coordinator Brett Dewhurst.

🔼 They Hit … the Books. Florida Atlantic's softball team is well-represented on the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list, with 19 individual Owls earning the honors (see list above). As a team, FAU posted the 25th highest GPA among all softball programs in the country for the 2024-25 academic year. 

The Owls' successful 2025 season saw them win their second consecutive American Conference regular season title on the way to back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances. The success on the field carried over into the classroom, where Florida Atlantic posted its highest GPA in program history, and the highest in the American, with a 3.7 over the course of the academic year.

🔼 Homeward Bound. The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team fell to FIU on Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-1.

Goalkeeper Megan Hogate and defender Lily Paisant recorded their first start in an FAU jersey. Hogate improved to four career saves after transferring from Texas. Paisant registered the full 90 minutes in her collegiate debut.

FAU will return home to play its first game of the season in the FAU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will air live on FAUSports.com.
