We’re counting down the days to the return of Florida Atlantic football on August 30 at Maryland! In honor of the countdown reaching 38 days, we take a look back at the 2024 Shula Bowl. The Owls won (their seventh straight Shula Bowl dub), taking down FIU, 38-20. The Owls battled through a 90+-minute weather delay and an early 7-0 deficit to defend their title.

🔼 Owls Leave the Nest. Three members of the 2025 Florida Atlantic baseball team have signed contracts with professional clubs. Max Martzolf will join the New Jersey Jackals of the Independent Frontier League. Carter Holjes and John Schroeder will continue playing for the State College Spikes and Trenton Thunder, respectively. The Spikes and the Thunder compete in the MLB Draft League, a six-team league featuring a split-season amateur-professional format. The first half of the MLB Draft League season features Draft-eligible players aiming to improve their stock ahead of the annual MLB Draft. The League switches to a professional format in the second half, with paid players comprising six rosters.

🔼 Sandy Squad Goals. Florida Atlantic beach volleyball garnered success on and off the courts this season, as the Sandy Owls earned the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The honor marks the third all-time for Florida Atlantic, having also earned the award in 2019 and 2023.

Florida Atlantic is one of 40 women's beach volleyball programs to earn the honor and one of 1,452 collegiate and high school volleyball teams nationwide. The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

🔼 Courting Academic Success. Florida Atlantic Volleyball was recognized for its success in the classroom, earning the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The honor marks the third all-time for Florida Atlantic, having also earned the award in 2022 and 2023.

🔼 This Team Does It All. The No. 27 Florida Atlantic women's tennis team received ITA All-Academic Team honors for 2024-25.

It was a strong 2024-25 school year for the Owls both on and off the courts, finishing the regular season as the only undefeated team in the nation and recording their first NCAA Tournament win in program history. Now, they add the ITA All-Academic team recognition to their resume after posting a combined GPA of over 3.2

Team members who received individual honors after posting a GPA of over 3.5 in 2024-25 were Millie-Mae Matthews, Katrin Pavkova, Malwina Rowinska, Sara Sarinova, Lexi Silna, and Lara Smejkal.

🔼 Owl Be in the Library. The No. 58 Florida Atlantic men's tennis team received ITA All-Academic Team honors for 2024-25.

It is another academic achievement for the men's tennis Owls, who recorded the highest GPA among all male teams at Florida Atlantic during the 2024-25 school year.

Team members who received individual honors after posting a GPA of over 3.5 in 2024-25 were John Bernard, Mark Havlicek, Jiri Jenicek, Luca Miremont, Simon Myslivec, Marek Pazdera, and Lucca Pignaton.
