Paradise Brew 6/27: Owl See You in the NBA
Two notable Florida Atlantic MBB alums were drafted to NBA teams on Thursday night!
Good Morning, FAU Family. Two Florida Atlantic men's basketball alumni joined the NBA on Thursday evening. Alijah Martin was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, becoming the first alum to be drafted in program history. Following the conclusion of the draft, center Vladislav Goldin agreed to a two-way contract with the Miami HEAT.
Entering a program that previously did not have an NCAA Tournament win in its history, Martin and Goldin were integral star players in FAU's legendary 2023 Final Four run and its ensuing 2024 tournament appearance, a stretch that saw the team win the fourth-most games in the nation.

🔼 We Are Family. Florida Atlantic volleyball is coming off one of its most successful seasons. With 15+ wins for the second consecutive year and 18+ wins for the 11th time in program history, the Owls' incredible fall campaign culminated in their first AAC Tournament appearance, and ultimately, their first championship berth since 2005.
The Owls squared off against No. 3-seed East Carolina in the quarterfinals, earning a five-set win over the Pirates to advance to the semifinals against No. 2-seed Rice. FAU rallied in the semifinal matchup to reverse sweep the Rice Owls, punching its ticket to the AAC Championship finals. The Owls finished the season as the No. 2 team in the conference. This impressive 2024 campaign resulted in multiple conference honors.
"The culture made a big difference for our team this year, one of the best we have ever had," head coach Fernanda Nelson said. "They really enjoyed being around each other, they were fun to coach, and they brought in a lot of passion. We were truly a family.”
