Paradise Brew 4/25: Sandy Owls Sweep the Semis
The No. 1 seed Florida Atlantic BVB team swept the No. 9 seed Jacksonville State Gamecocks 3-0 to advance to the CUSA quarterfinals.
Good Morning, Owl Family. The No. 1 seed Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team opened up play in the CUSA Tournament on Thursday, sweeping the No. 9 seed Jacksonville State Gamecocks 3-0 to advance to the CUSA quarterfinals.
The Sandy Owls dominated from start to finish. Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova scored first for FAU, winning 21-5, 21-7 on court two. Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova secured the second point for FAU, dominating 21-7, 21-6 at the No. 1 position. Sydney Schroder and Olivia Strandberg clinched the match for the Owls, taking a 21-9, 21-12 straight-set win on court four.

🔼 Eagle-Eye View. The Florida Atlantic men's golf (-11) team finished in eighth place at the AAC Championship on Wednesday. Freshman Biagio Gagliardi (-8) led the way with a Top 10 finish, as he tied for ninth individually.
The Owls' low round of the day went to senior Guilherme Grinberg with a 69 (-3). The Brazilian circled five birdies and added an eagle at the par-five sixth hole, moving 11 places on the leaderboard into a tie for 27th.

🔼 Life At the Top. The No. 25 Florida Atlantic softball team will host their final home series of the 2025 season with a matchup against Memphis from today through Sunday, April 27. All games are on ESPN+. At the conclusion of Sunday's game, the team's four seniors will be honored for their contributions to the program.
Fresh off their fourth sweep in AAC play, the Owls (38-9, 17-4) will look to maintain first place in the league standings with their second series all-time versus the Tigers (17-30, 4-17).

🔼 Even Steven. Florida Atlantic baseball heads back to the state of North Carolina for the second time in the month of April to start a three-game weekend series with Charlotte today at Noon ET on ESPN+. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., and Sunday's finale is set for 1 p.m. The Owls (27-13) and the 49ers (23-17) enter the weekend with 9-6 records in the American Athletic Conference.

🔼 The Buck Stops With Bollinger. Florida Atlantic sophomore pitcher MJ Bollinger has been named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List. The award recognizes the top relief pitchers in the country, and finalists will be announced on June 4. The midseason watch list includes 56 of the nation's top relief pitchers. Bollinger is one of three representatives from the AAC.
Bollinger has established himself as the Owls' go-to option out of the bullpen in the late innings. In 18 appearances, he's totaled a 2.17 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 29 innings.

🔼 Burrowed Deep On This One. Episode 28 of Florida Atlantic's Inside the Owls' Burrow airs tonight, Friday, April 25, at 6 p.m. ET and again tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. The show originates on FanDuel Sports Network Florida and can also be viewed on fausports.com and YouTube.
This week's show features a Spring Game recap, while newcomer cornerback Derrick Rogers is mic'd up at a recent practice. Baseball closer MJ Bollinger, who has been named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, is featured as well as softball outfielder Kylie Hammonds, who was a competitive gymnast through high school. The show ends with a getting to know segment called "Life's a Beach" with Marketa Svozilova and guest host Sydney Schroder.

🔼 It All Begins With a Promise. The Florida Atlantic women's track & field team reunites to compete in the UCF Knights Invite today, Friday, April 25, and tomorrow, Saturday, April 26.
The Owls will race in three events (200-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles, and 3000-meter run) on Friday evening. On the docket for Saturday morning, junior Promise Cross will kick things off for FAU with the high jump. The Owls will then compete in the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, and to close out the meet, they will race the 4x400-meter relay.
