Paradise Brew 4/16: HERstory in the Making
After a perfect season, the FAU women's tennis team lands a No. 1 seed in the 2025 AAC Championship.
Good Morning, Owl Family. The FAU women's tennis team concluded the 2024-25 regular season as the nation's only undefeated team and the only FAU team in any sport to power through the regular season without a loss. That warranted a No. 27 rank in the latest ITA national poll and a No. 1 seed in the 2025 AAC Championship. The winner earns The American's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships.
The Owls, who received one of three byes to the quarterfinal round, will begin tournament play on Friday, April 18, against the winner of Thursday's first-round match between No. 9 UAB and No. 8 UTSA.
What else do we have mixed into today’s Brew? Check it out below!

🔼 Men Of Merit. The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team's 10-8 record playing a difficult schedule has merited a No. 57 national rank and a No. 3 seed at the 2025 AAC Championship, which will be played at the University of Memphis.
The Owls, who have won nine of their last 10 dual matches, will play a quarterfinal match Friday, April 18, against either No. 11 seed Tulane or the No. 6 seed UTSA. The match is scheduled for noon ET. FAU has played both schools this season, coming away with a 4-3 win at UTSA back on February 21 and a 6-1 victory versus Tulane on March 23 in Paradise.

🔼 Panna-monium Ensues. A sophomore on the No. 27 FAU women's tennis team, Panna Bartha has been named the AAC Player of the Week.
Bartha has been instrumental in the Owls' 2025 success on their way to the No. 1 seed in the AAC Championship, which begins tomorrow—Thursday, April 17. Bartha helped FAU cap a 15-0 regular season and enter the postseason as the nation's only unbeaten team as the Owls defeated No. 55 FIU for the first time since 2003 with a 4-1 victory in Boca Raton. Bartha took a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory at No. 1 singles and was a 6-4 winner at No. 3 doubles. The 2024 American Rookie of the Year improved to 11-4 in singles play in her sophomore season.

🔼 Birdies Of a Feather. Florida Atlantic women's golf is in sixth place after two rounds at the AAC Championship. Sophomore Charlotte Perkins posted a round of 70 (-2) on Tuesday to enter the final round three shots off the individual lead. Perkins started her day with birdies on three of her first five holes. She went out in 33 (-3). After bogeying the 12th and 14th holes, the Aussie added one more birdie at the 15th. She moved up five spots on the leaderboard into fifth place.
Freshman Nancy Cox is also inside the Top 10 after a 74 (+2) on Tuesday.

🔼 Shockers Incoming. Florida Atlantic baseball dropped a third consecutive one-run game on Tuesday, falling by a 5-4 final to Miami. The Owls (24-12) let a late lead slip as the Hurricanes (21-17) captured the season series two games to one.
The team will be back at it tomorrow night, starting a three-game series against Wichita State at 6:30 p.m. ET. See the article below for some scheduling updates.

🔼 A Couple Curveballs. Florida Atlantic baseball has announced game time changes for its upcoming Easter weekend series vs. Wichita State. Friday's scheduled start time has been moved to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday's series finale will have a 1 p.m. first pitch. Thursday's series opener remains scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
After Saturday's game, kids can run the bases and collect player autographs. Saturday will also feature a Tyler and Dylan Murphy trading card giveaway.
Big shoutout to all of Owl Nation who spent Friday night with The Hometown Team 🫡

The Answer: Five times!
The No. 1 seed has won the AAC Championship in women’s tennis five times in the tournament's 10-year history (Tulsa in 2016, UCF in 2019 and 2021, SMU in 2022 and 2024).
This bodes well for our Owls!
🦉 Happy Wednesday, Owl Fam!
