Paradise Brew 3/7: FAU Veep On New Prez, Success
From the Desk of Brian White: The FAU VP and Director of Athletics welcomes the new president, talks athletic successes, and more.
Good morning, Owls Family. From the Desk of Brian White, Vice President and Director of Athletics:
Greetings from Paradise!
Our spring sports are off to an amazing start, it's time for the American Athletic Conference Basketball Tournaments in Fort Worth, and we just announced football season tickets on sale in anticipation of an exciting first season under Hagerty Family Head Coach Zach Kittley.
I'd like to begin by welcoming Adam Hasner as the eighth president of Florida Atlantic University. Hasner is Boca Raton through and through – having lived in Paradise for much of his life. He knows FAU, he knows south Florida and he is the ideal leader to continue the exponential growth of our university.
Read the full address for more on postseason hoops, MBB coach John Jakus’ success, the explosive start to the spring season for the reigning AAC regular season champion softball team and more.
What else do we have mixed into today’s Brew? Check it out below!

🔼 Toled-0. With seven doubles at the plate, the No. 24 Florida Atlantic softball team recorded its largest shutout of the season, defeating Toledo 13-0 on Wednesday evening at home.
In their final tune-up before AAC play begins, the Owls (21-4) needed only five innings to beat the Rockets (5-9) and scored at least one run in each of their series of at-bats.
Senior pitcher Gabby Sacco delivered her third shutout of the season, improving to 5-1 in 2025.

🔼 Eyes On These Owls. Following a career game that saw Mya Perry post the sixth-best offensive performance in the AAC this season and her first 30-point outing, the junior guard was recognized as the AAC Player of the Week, while Lovisa Asbrink Hose was also awarded AAC Weekly Honorable Mention honors.
The two awards put the Owls at 11 weekly honors this season. This marks Perry's first-career Player of the Week nod and her third AAC accolade this season. It’s the second career weekly AAC honor for Asbrink Hose.

🔼 Blip V. Blazers. Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team shot a season-high 58% from the field but ultimately came up short against UAB on Thursday evening, 89-80.
