Paradise Brew 3/4: Twice As Nice

Plus: Doing big things in the American.

Good Morning, FAU Family.

Freshman Josiah Parker and junior Kanaan Carlyle are getting their flowers after a big week for FAU men's basketball. Parker claimed his seventh (and third consecutive) American Conference Freshman of the Week award after hitting the game-winning layup with 0.6 seconds left in overtime against Charlotte, finishing the week with 20 rebounds and 19 points across two wins. Carlyle earned honorable mention after averaging 20.5 points per game and now holds a season-high 356 points. Next: at Wichita State on March 7 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

What else do we have mixed into today’s Brew? Check it out below!

⚾ Hot bat
🌟 Twice as nice
🦉 And much, much more

🔼 Midweek W. FAU women’s basketball defeated Tulane, 61-57, last night in Boca Raton as the Owls celebrated Senior Day. Michiyah Simmons paced the Owls with 13 points, while Grace Carstensen added 12. Jess Moors contributed nine, and Ineivi Plata led the team with seven boards. Up next: the regular season finale as the Owls travel to Temple on March 7 at 2 p.m. (ESPN+).

🔼 Hot Bat. Redshirt senior third baseman Nick Romano is off to a hot start in 2026, earning American Conference weekly honorable mention after going 8-for-14 with six RBI and five runs scored during FAU's sweep of Villanova.

🔼 Twice As Nice. Sophomore Lily Holtje is on a tear, picking up her third weekly conference honor of the season after batting .467 with seven hits, three doubles and a home run during FAU's 4-1 week. Holtje, who earned her second straight conference honorable mention, now ranks second in the American in OPS (1.334) and doubles (nine), and third in walks (16). Her on-base streak has reached 14 consecutive games. Next: vs. FGCU today at 6 p.m. on ESPN+, then American Conference play opens at Charlotte from March 6–8.

🔼 Dynamic Duo. The FAU women’s tennis doubles tandem of Panna Bartha and Katrin Pavkova earned a No. 56 national ranking in the latest ITA poll, the program's lone ranked pair this season. The duo holds a 6-3 dual match record, competing at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The Owls begin a seven-match homestand on March 9 vs. Yale at 11 a.m., before closing the regular season at FIU on April 11 and heading to the American Conference Championship at Rice from April 16-19.

🔼 In Class. Florida Atlantic has recognized men's diving senior Rocco Simonelli and women's tennis junior Malwina Rowinska as its February Student-Athletes of the Month. Simonelli, an accounting major, capped a strong academic stretch by earning Most Outstanding Men's Diver honors at the 2026 ASUN Conference Championship. Rowinska, a communication studies major with a minor in Italian, has also stepped into a leadership role on FAU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee since arriving in fall 2024.

🔼 Go For Gold. Florida Atlantic associate head swimming and diving coach Ryan Bubb is heading to the international stage, named to the Team USA coaching staff for the 2026 FISU America Games in Lima, Peru (July 20 thru Aug. 1). Bubb is in his fifth season at FAU and second as associate head coach, helping guide the men's program to its first conference championship in program history earlier this year with nine gold medals and 15 total medals at the ASUN Championships.

🔼 Tune In. The Florida Atlantic Coaches Show, presented by Duffy's Sports Grill, wraps up its winter schedule on Thursday from 6-7 p.m. on Fox Sports 640 South Florida. Host Ken LaVicka will be joined by women's basketball coach LeAnn Freeland and guard Haley Walker, along with baseball pitcher James Litman, fresh off FAU's first series sweep of the year against Villanova.
