Paradise Brew 3/2: Undefeated Weekend

Plus: A medal for FAU track & field!

Good Morning, FAU Family.

What a finish at Baldwin Arena! Josiah Parker spun into the lane and laid it in with 0.6 seconds remaining in OT to give FAU men’s hoops a dramatic 77-76 win over Charlotte and clinch a spot in the American Conference Tournament.

The Owls trailed by 10 at halftime before a 17-1 second-half run brought them back. Parker finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Kanaan Carlyle led all scorers with 19 points, and Maxim Logue recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

What else do we have mixed into today’s Brew? Check it out below!

🏖️ Saturday sweep
🦉 And much, much more

🔼 Weekend Sweep. The Owls saved their best for last, setting season highs in hits (20) and runs (15) to run-rule Villanova in seven innings and complete the sweep. Brando Leroux led the way, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, including his first career triple. The Owls exploded for six runs in the first inning alone and scored 37 runs in the three-game series, more than their first seven games combined. Freshman Garrett Grant delivered four shutout innings to get the win. Next up: a road trip to face No. 10 Florida tomorrow at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.

🔼 Undefeated Weekend. The Owls are rolling! FAU softball closed out the Beach Chicken Brawl in Conway, S.C., with a 10-1 run-rule win over Binghamton and a 2-0 shutout of Saint Joseph's to finish the tournament without a loss. In Game 1, FAU smashed six doubles in a single inning to blow the game open, while Kylie Hammonds was hit by a pitch three times in one game, giving her 20 career HBPs and the program's all-time record in that category.

In Game 2, Yani Guzman launched a two-run homer and Autumn Courtney delivered her second straight complete game, allowing just two hits in the final six innings. The Owls have won 11 of their last 13 games and are outscoring opponents 85-14 in those victories. Up next: Florida Gulf Coast on March 4 at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

🔼 On Track. A strong finish to the indoor season for FAU track & field! Senior Rosa ten Berg claimed her first indoor conference medal Saturday, finishing second in the 800-meter dash at the American Indoor Championships in Birmingham. Teegan Anderson also competed in the 3000-meter run, finishing 15th out of 50 runners, and the 4x400-meter relay squad rounded out the meet with a 3:50.07. The Owls now turn their attention to the outdoor season, opening at the UM Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables on March 21.

🔼 Saturday Sweep. The Sandy Owls are rolling! No. 14 FAU beach volleyball capped off a strong weekend in Tallahassee with a pair of 4-1 wins over No. 16 North Florida and FGCU on Saturday, improving to 7-1 on the season. The duo of Cameron Knifton and Allison Spittal led the way, going 2-0 on the day to improve to a team-best 7-1 together. Koehl/Strandberg and Mignerey/Edwards also each picked up two wins. Next up: the Chanticleer Challenge in Conway, S.C., on March 6-7.

What was Rosa ten Berg's 800-meter time at the American Indoor Championships?
