🦉 And much, much more

🔼 Moving On. FAU women’s hoops is moving on! The Owls built a 19-point third-quarter lead, watched Charlotte claw all the way back to force overtime, then gutted out the 74-70 victory in Birmingham for FAU's first postseason win since 2020-21, and the program's first since joining the American. Madi Gewirtz and Vivian Onugha each scored 16 points, with Gewirtz adding three steals, three blocks, and a clutch overtime three-pointer that put the game away. Destyne Jackson chipped in 11 points and Jess Moors dished a game-high five assists. FAU's bench outscored Charlotte's 35-7, and the Owls shot 50% from the field in a dominant first half. FAU faces No. 5 North Texas today at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

🔼 Midweek W. The bats were hot in FAU’s 12-2 win over Presbyterian last night! The Owls picked up the run-rule victory in eight innings. Multiple Owls had two-hit games, including Nick Romano, Brando Leroux, John Martinez, Brett Patten, Ian Collier, and Kyle Boylston. The Owls will face the Blue Hose again this afternoon at 4 p.m.

🔼 Awards Time. The Owls grabbed two of the American Conference's biggest individual honors as freshman Josiah Parker was named Freshman of the Year and redshirt sophomore Devin Vanterpool took home Most Improved Player. Parker earned a league-high seven freshman of the week awards and finished the regular season with 288 points, 181 rebounds, and six double-doubles, including four straight in February. He posted the most rebounds in a game by an Owl since Vlad Goldin in 2023. Vanterpool set career highs across the board while leading FAU at 15.8 points per game and 37 steals, earning All-Conference third-team honors along the way. He was the only Owl to hit 30 points in a game this season.

🔼 Conference Standouts. Kylie Hammonds and Ainsley Lambert picked up American Conference Honorable Mention after leading FAU softball to a 3-1 week and a conference-opening series win at Charlotte. Hammonds reached base 13 times in 17 plate appearances with three homers, eight runs, and a 1.545 slugging percentage, plus a home run robbery in center field. She's tied for the conference lead with seven homers and leads the AAC in runs (29). Lambert was dominant in relief, tossing 7.2 scoreless innings across three appearances with a league-leading fourth save and the lowest opponent batting average among eligible AAC pitchers at .170. FAU hosts East Carolina beginning March 13.

🔼 Best of the Week. Klaire VanDeusen and Mia Scanlon earned the first Conference USA Pair of the Week honor of the season for No. 15 FAU beach volleyball after a dominant showing at the Chanticleer Challenge. The duo went 3-1 on the weekend, reeling off three straight-set victories over Tulane, Coastal Carolina, and Georgia State while competing on courts three and four. Their only loss came against No. 4 Cal Poly. VanDeusen and Scanlon have improved their pair record to 7-2 on the season. The Sandy Owls host the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational this weekend in Pompano Beach on March 14-15.
