Paradise Brew 2/7: FAU Softball Swung For Fences

The FAU softball team opened their 2025 season with a pair of thrillers, taking down Ole Miss 5-4 in extra innings followed by a 3-2 victory over Kansas.

Good morning, Owls Family. The Florida Atlantic softball team opened their 2025 season with a pair of thrillers on Thursday evening, taking down Ole Miss 5-4 in extra innings followed by a 3-2 victory over Kansas. 
 
With the wins, the Owls (2-0) picked up right where they left off from their 2024 championship season. Head Coach Jordan Clark now has 78 career wins to her name.

There’s more to come for FAU tonight, taking on No. 25 Clemson at 6 p.m. ET and Georgia State at 8:15.

🔼 Fab Four From FAU. D1Baseball.com released its AAC season preview on Thursday. Tyler Murphy, James Litman, Trey Beard, and Dylan LaPointe were all highlighted among the league's top prospects.
 
Murphy was listed as the No. 14 2025 MLB Draft prospect. Litman was tabbed as the AAC's No. 4 Impact Freshman. Beard was listed as the league's No. 4 prospect for the 2026 MLB Draft. LaPointe is the AAC's No. 38 prospect for the 2025 Draft.

🔼 Making Gains. The Florida Atlantic women's track & field team returns to Gainesville for the third time this season, this time for the Celebration Pointe Meet on today at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center. 
 
The Owls return up north for the third time this season for one of the last two meets before the AAC Indoor Championships starting on Friday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, Mar. 1 in Birmingham, Alabama. Florida Atlantic will start the meet with the 5000-meter at 9 a.m. ET.

🔼 A Hard-Fought Battle. The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team played their first of four matches versus an in-state foe on Thursday afternoon, with host Stetson coming away with the 4-3 win. The Owls have three dual match decisions thus far, each coming down to the final court in a best-of-seven format and each time.
 
Florida Atlantic newcomer Jan Kusy, playing on court #3, out-dueled his opponent to capture his match 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(10-8) and evened the team score at 3-3, with the team victory coming down to court #1. Stetson took the court 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 and ultimately the match at 4-3.

Florida Atlantic has announced its second annual "Sandstorm" game, which is set for Monday, Feb. 10 when the men's basketball team hosts Charlotte at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. The game, part of ESPN's Big Monday package, airs nationally on ESPN2 at 9 p.m.

In the thick of the American Conference race, the Owls (12-10, 5-4) have won three of their last four overall, including two straight dominant home wins over UTSA, 94-74, and USF, 94-72.
