Florida Atlantic MBB took down in-state AAC rival South Florida in a wire-to-wire 94-72 victory on Sunday at the Elly.

Good morning, Owls Family. Florida Atlantic MBB took down in-state AAC rival South Florida in a wire-to-wire 94-72 victory on Sunday at the Elly.
 
In their second consecutive victory by over 20 points, the Owls (12-10, 5-4 AAC) put on a stellar showing on both ends of the floor, shooting a season-high 56% from the field while holding the opposing Bulls (11-11, 4-5 AAC) to just 32.3%.
 
FAU leaned on a game-high 18 points from redshirt junior forward Tre Carroll and freshman center Matas Vokietaitis, the latter of whom recorded his career-high, and 44 total bench points.

🔼 The Better Owls Prevailed. A full team effort and a career day for Stefanie Ingram powered the Owls to a strong 66-61 win over the reigning AAC tournament champion Rice Owls on Saturday at the Elly. FAU improves to 10-13 on the season and 2-8 in AAC play.

Ingram scored a career-best 25 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and going a perfect 2-of-2 at the line, while also adding a team-high five assists, five boards, and a steal. Ta'Ziah Jenks also had a banner day, scoring 14 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, in addition to two assists and a pair of rebounds.

🔼 Losses? What Are Those? Florida Atlantic women's tennis downed the visiting Osprey of North Florida by a 7-0 score on Saturday afternoon, completing back-to-back sweeps in as many days. The win moved FAU's record to 4-0 on the year.
 
Coming off a 4-0 win on Friday, the Owls squared off against the visiting UNF on Saturday. Playing a clinch-play format, doubles play began with the senior FAU duo of Victoria Gomez O'Hayon / Millie-Mae Matthews coming off court #2 with a 6-2 win. In the end, the doubles point was clinched by the FAU newcomer duo of Malwina Rowinska / Lara Smejkal, who captured court #1 at 6-4.

🔼 Hearing From Those at the Helm. The Florida Atlantic Coaches Show, presented by Duffy's Sports Grill, continues the 2024-25 schedule tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 4) from 6-7 p.m. ET at the Duffy's Sports Grill in Boca Raton.

Jordan Clark, FAU's head softball coach who guided the helm of the reigning American Athletic Conference regular-season champions in 2024, will join the voice of the Owls and host Ken LaVicka at this week's show. Also joining the show are head beach volleyball coach Steve Grotowski and FAU Athletics Hall of Fame member and the head coach for men's and women's swimming and diving Lara Preacco as she preps the two squads to head to their respective conference meets.

🔼 No One-Trick Owls. Florida Atlantic Women's Cross Country has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team. To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The Owls completed the 2024 fall semester with a 3.559.


🔼 Beginnings and Endings. The Florida Atlantic women's swimming & diving team wrapped up their regular season Saturday morning in a dual meet versus FIU. Competing at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center, the Owls were narrowly defeated by the rival Panthers 167 to 132. Overall, the Owls grabbed five event victorious and numerous top three finishes overall.

Florida Atlantic Swimming and Diving head coach Lara Preacco also announced the hiring of Pol Roch. Roch joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach after two seasons at Wagner College's Swim & Dive programs under the same position. With Wagner, Roch guided the men's team to winning the 2024 Northeast Conference Championship, their first title in program history. 👇🏼

🔼 A Point Shy. Florida Atlantic Men's Tennis played their first road match of the 2025 season and fell just shy of their first win, dropping the match 4-3 to UNC-Wilmington on Saturday evening.
 
The doubles duo of John Bernard /Mark Havlicek captured their court #1 doubles match, but the Owls gave up the point, falling in two of the three doubles contests.

🔼 Welcome to Paradise. Florida Atlantic Women's Golf kicks off the spring season today and tomorrow, hosting the Paradise Invitational at Osprey Point Golf Club for the seventh consecutive year.
 
Sophomore Charlotte Perkins and freshman Nancy Cox will lead the way in the No. 1 and 2 spots. The pair were the only two Owls to play in all four events in the fall.
 
Play will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET this morning. 36 holes will be played on today, followed by 18 tomorrow.

🔼 A Sea of Green(s). Florida Atlantic Men's Golf starts the spring season at the Sea Best Invitational in Atlantic Beach, Florida, today and tomorrow. Jacksonville University will host the two-day event at Atlantic Beach Country Club. The field features 13 teams and 75 individual competitors. Play begins this morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. The Owls will be paired with Lipscomb and North Alabama.

Sophomore NaShawn Tyson will lead the lineup, followed by freshman Biagio Gagliardi and sophomore Andres Atrio. Seniors Jake Hibbert and Guilherme Grinberg round out the final two spots.
