Good morning, Owls Family. The Florida Atlantic Owls baseball team (7-1) went on the road for the first time on Tuesday night and came away with a 4-3 win over the UCF Knights (6-2).

Jake Millan's home run was his team-leading third of the season, while Jake Duer doubled and singled to run his NCAA-leading hit total to 19.

Max Martzolf was first out of the bullpen and was credited with his third win of the season after 1.1 scoreless.

🔼 Deuces, Baby. Florida Atlantic women's tennis broke into the nation's national poll last week using the recent dub over a top-25 team, their second of 2025, to climb to No. 22 in this week's ITA National Ranking.
 
The Owls, who are off to a 6-0 start, defeated a No. 23 Miami back on Jan. 16, and last week, the Owls knocked off No. 20 UCF by a score of 4-2. The 27-spot climb to No. 22 is the highest ITA national raking Florida Atlantic has achieved in program history. The women's tennis teams now joins two additional FAU teams ranked in the nation's top-25, with softball weighing in at No. 22 and beach volleyball being ranked No. 16 nationally.

🔼 Deuces, Baby - Softball Edition. The Florida Atlantic softball team placed in the top 25 for three official polls. The Owls come in at No. 22 in the D1 Softball poll, No. 25 in Softball America, and have made their 2025 debut in the NFCA Softball Coaches Poll, also coming in at No. 25 for their first appearance in the rankings since 2017.
 
Coming off a 6-0 week that included a five-game sweep on the road at the Stetson Invitational, FAU's 15-2 record is the second best start in program history. Among those 15 wins includes victories over Ole Miss from the SEC, Kansas from the Big 12, Minnesota from the Big Ten, and ACC opponents Clemson and NC State.

🔼 Can You Dig This? Helping lead the Sandy Owls to a perfect 4-0 weekend to open the season, which included earning four straight-set sweeps and three top-20 wins, Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova were named the Conference USA Pair of the Week. The honor marks the first for Sandy Owls this season, as well as the third career weekly honor for Svozilova and the second for Adams.

🔼 M to the Third Power Florida Atlantic's Millie-Mae Matthews has been named the AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Matthews is the second Owl to earn recognition by the AAC in 2025. Fellow senior Lexi Silna received the honor on Jan. 21, 2025.

Matthews has been instrumental in the program's climb to No. 22 nationally. In last week’s match against UCF, Matthews won her court and clinched the match for the Owls after more than three hours and 30 minutes of work, including a tie-breaking doubles win alongside Victoria Gomez O'Hayon that was crucial in the Owls 4-2 win.

🔼 Pirates Descend On Paradise. The Florida Atlantic Owls host the East Carolina Pirates tonight for the annual Play4Kay pink game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET inside the Ellly and on ESPN+.

FAU enters Saturday's matchup at 10-18 on the season and 2-13 in AAC play.

The Owls offense is paced by Mya Perry, who ranks sixth in the AAC in points per game. Stefanie Ingram ranks second in the AAC in assists and leads the Owls with 132 assists.

🔼 Gimme Mora. Junior third baseman Jesiana Mora of the No. 25 Florida Atlantic softball team has earned an honorable mention from the AAC.
 
This marks the third Owl batter in three weeks to receive a weekly conference honor. FAU is coming off a 6-0 week, picking up a win over FIU at home before sweeping the three-day Stetson Invitational in DeLand. 
 
On the season, Mora is currently in second place in the AAC in hits with 26 on the season and runs scored with 18 while tied for the lead in doubles with five.

🔼 Duers Get Things Done. Florida Atlantic junior outfielder Jake Duer has been named to the AAC's Weekly Honorable Mention list.
 
Duer has played a vital role in the Owls' 6-1 start to the season. Last Tuesday against Miami, he sparked a seventh-inning rally with a leadoff double and eventually scored the tying run. He had back-to-back four-hit games over the weekend against UConn on Friday and Saturday. Duer finished the series 10-for-14 at the plate and currently leads all of Division I with 17 hits.

Q: What makes cross country so special compared to other sports?
 
A: In every sport, you use your entire body, but running is such a simple thing. You get up and move your legs, but for runners all around the world they take it to the highest level.
 
Q: What challenges have you faced in such an individual sport?
 
A: Not thinking you are good enough is a big one. There is always someone better than you, especially at the Division I level. I know I am not the greatest and there are people better than me. With that said, why would I worry about someone in another state that is way ahead of me?

🔼 Diving Head First Into Good News. ASUN Diving Coach of the Year has a nice ring to it!

Congratulations to our very own Alik Sarkisian on being named the 2025 ASUN Diving Coach of the Year. At the 2025 championships, the Owl divers swept the podium in both the 1m & 3m diving events.

🔼 Burrowing Deep. Episode 24 of FAU's Inside the Owls' Burrow first airs on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 p.m. ET. It will re-air on Friday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 1 at 11:30 a.m.

This week's show will preview the No. 16 beach volleyball team, who are one of three Owl teams ranked in the nation's top-25. It will also look at men’s golf, along with introducung the newly hired head football strength and conditioning coach Brandon Lee. Plus, get on the court with MBB assistant coach Adiyta Malhorta in "Wired for Sound."
