Paradise Brew 2/10: Ballers On the Storm

Florida Atlantic MBB recorded their fourth straight double-digit victory in AAC play/the annual Sandstorm game on Monday, defeating Charlotte by a score of 87-75.

Good morning, Owls Family. Florida Atlantic's MBB team recorded its fourth straight double-digit victory in AAC play on Monday in the annual Sandstorm game, defeating Charlotte by a score of 87-75.

Taking the floor for a late-night matchup, the Owls (14-10, 7-4 AAC) took control late in the first half and never looked back against the 49ers (9-17, 2-11 AAC). The team had a strong shooting night, converting over 50% of their shot attempts for the fourth consecutive outing, while going 48% from downtown and 85% from the free throw line. Sophomore forward Kaleb Glenn led the way with 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting.

🔼 Time to Get Skin in the Game. All-session ticket packages are now on sale for the 2025 American Athletic Conference Basketball Championships. Join the Owls for the women's and men's tournaments in Fort Worth, March 8-16, by securing your tickets today!

The action begins March 8–12 with the AAC Women's Basketball Championship and wraps up with the AAC Men's Basketball Championship on March 12-16. The first-round matchups of both tournaments will be played at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas, while the final four rounds of the tournaments will be played at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, for the fifth consecutive year.

🔼 Has a Nice Ring to It. FAU Softball held a ring ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 8, to honor their 2024 conference championship team. Head Coach Jordan Clark welcomed back Owl alumni who were part of the one of the most successful teams in program history, a season in which they won the AAC regular season championship and made their first NCAA regional appearance since 2018.

The ceremony was held during the weekend of the Paradise Classic, a seven-team tournament hosted by FAU in which the Owls rolled through the four days with a 6-0 record to begin their season, including wins over SEC Ole Miss, Big 12 Kansas, and the nationally ranked ACC Clemson.

🔼 On the Up and Up. The Florida Atlantic softball team continues to climb national rankings, coming in at No. 18 on D1Softball's Top 25 poll and No. 25 on the ESPN.com/USA Collegiate Softball poll on Tuesday.

Coming in as the only ranked team from the American Athletic Conference in both polls, the Owls rolled through the 2025 campaign-opening Paradise Classic tournament with a 6-0 record, outscoring teams 38-10, and recording wins over SEC Ole Miss, Big 12 Kansas, and ACC Clemson.

🔼 That’ll Do It. FAU head football coach Zach Kittley has completed his on-field coaching staff with the additions of Brandon Lacy as defensive line coach and Antonio Fenelus as cornerbacks coach.

Lacy brings 22 years of coaching experience, working primarily with defensive linemen with a knack for disrupting opposing quarterbacks. Fenelus was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection (2020, 2011) as a defensive back at Wisconsin. He played professionally in the UFL, the CFL, and Arena League before entering the collegiate coaching ranks with stops at Wisconsin, East Central University, LSU, Illinois, and Virginia.

🔼 An Auspicious Start. Following their 6-0 start to the 2025 season, the Florida Atlantic softball team earned multiple weekly honors from the AAC. Junior Autumn Courtney has been named AAC Pitcher of the Week, while junior catcher Chloe Yeatts received an honorable mention.

Courtney made a trio of stellar appearances in the circle, earning the victory in all three of them, making her the first Owl since 2018 to have three wins in the team's first six games. A transfer from New Mexico, Yeatts had nine hits (tied for the AAC lead alongside freshman teammate Bella Foran) in 17 at-bats.

🔼 Treys For Days. Junior forward Baba Miller of the FAU MBB team was named one of five AAC Honorable Mention recipients of the week—his second weekly honor of the season.

The Owls beat Tulsa 79-55 on Saturday afternoon to mark their third consecutive 20+ point conference victory of the season. From making threes to dunks and no-look passes, Miller was a key contributor in the win over the Golden Hurricane with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, recording his fifth double-double of his career as an Owl.

🔼 Battle of the Birds. The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team has three matches on tap for this week. The Owls will first travel to Jacksonville, Florida, where today they will face host UNF. The squad then returns home to host AAC member South Florida on Friday, Feb. 14. They will then play host to perennial power UCSB on Sunday, Feb. 16th.

FAU will square off versus the UNF Osprey today at 1 p.m. ET. The Owls hold a 7-5 all-time record against their fellow birds and swept the match a year ago, also played in Jacksonville.
