Paradise Brew 12/18: FAU Athletics Makes History

A historic, 15-year football stadium naming partnership between Florida Atlantic Athletics and Flagler Credit Union, was approved Tuesday morning.

Good morning, Owls Family. A historic, 15-year football stadium naming partnership between Florida Atlantic Athletics and Flagler Credit Union, a division of Dort Financial, was approved by the Board of Trustees during a special meeting Tuesday morning.

As presented to the board by VP and Director of Athletics Brian White, FAU Stadium will be recognized as Flagler Credit Union Stadium, beginning immediately with today's 2024 Boca Raton Bowl. Flagler Credit Union will become the official credit union of FAU Athletics and alumni in 2025.

This is the largest corporate sponsorship in the American Athletic Conference for a football stadium and among the largest in the Group of Five conferences.

🏀 Multiple AAC honors were received by MBB and WBB team members
⚾️ FAU Baseball went “No-Shave” in November for a great cause
🦉 And much, much more

🔼 That’s a Twofer. Freshman center Matas Vokietaitis has been named AAC Freshman of the Week, while redshirt junior forward Tre Carroll made Honorable Mention, snagging another appearance among the AAC honors for the second consecutive week.

Vokietaitis totaled 30 points in the wins over Jacksonville and Texas State this past week. bCarroll led the team with 35 points off the bench for Florida Atlantic for a 2-0 record over the past week.

🔼 We Mustache You a Question. FAU Baseball has a strict no-facial hair policy, but that policy is suspended for one month a year. In November, players were able to grow out their beards and mustaches in exchange for a donation to the League of Ribbons at the Lynn Cancer Institute. The money was used to purchase gift cards to area restaurants and gas stations for cancer patients after a long day of treatments. This year, the Owls' efforts raised $1200 worth of gift cards for the League of Ribbons.

🗣 "We are so grateful to Coach Mac and the players for their generosity and commitment to making the holidays brighter for some of our patients!” - Janet Dymtrow, Oncology Support Services and Community Outreach

🔼 “Moore” Of This, Please. Following her first 20-point game of the season and helping lead the Owls to a 15-point win over Kennesaw State, Jada Moore was recognized as an AAC Honorable Mention honoree. The award marks the Owls' fifth weekly award and Moore's first career AAC honor. Moore had the best performance of the season last week against Kennesaw State, producing her first 20-point performance of the season.

🔼 Spring Forward. 2025 season tickets for Florida Atlantic University baseball are officially on sale. Secure your place today to see one of the top baseball programs in Florida. FAU Baseball has had at least one player selected in 17 of the past 19 MLB drafts, making Boca Raton one of the top places to watch future stars.

The 2025 season will also mark the Owls' second as a member of the American Athletic Conference. This season's home schedule includes 33 games.
