Good Morning, FAU Fam. The Owls are 5-0 at home for the first time in program history, and they got there by dropping 60 on a UTSA team that walked in unbeaten in league play. Easton Messer’s jaw-dropping play continued as he caught three touchdowns and threw a fourth, Caden Veltkamp tossed four of his own, and AJ Johnson punched in two on the ground and caught another. Leonard Farrow ran for 126 on 12 carries with a 59-yard burst, Ethan Ervin added 92, and the Owls finished with 341 rushing yards at 7.3 a pop.
Jonathan Bax led a defense that piled up six sacks and 11 tackles for loss, and Reed Chandley dropped all three of his punts inside the 20 while averaging 53.7.
Next up: the Owls are on the road at Tulsa next Saturday.

🔼 Road Trip. FAU men’s hoops hits the road today to face Wright State, the second straight NCAA Tournament team on their schedule. Both clubs come in 1-0 after wire-to-wire openers, FAU behind Kanaan Carlyle’s 20 points, nine rebounds and career-high five steals in the win over LIU. Tip is 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+!
🔼 Recognition Before Kickoff. Good timing for some hardware: the American Conference dropped its all-conference teams, honoring five Owls. Alfred Mikkelsen, Jonas Sundli-Hardig, Enzo Rabot, and Emil Lausten all landed on the second team, with Olle Lovdahl earning all-freshman honors. Memphis comes to town tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ as part of the American Conference Tournament, and postseason soccer at home with free admission is about as good as a Friday night gets!
🔼 Trophy Watch. Two Owls landed on national award lists this week, with the trophy conversations heating up heading into the back half of the season. Easton Messer is one of 65 nominees for the Burlsworth Trophy, which honors the country’s top former walk-on, his second nod after being recognized in 2024.
Reed Chandley made the Ray Guy Award Midseason Watch List, one of 63 nominees for the honor given to the nation’s best punter.

Down 2-0 at halftime in Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic poured in three second-half goals to win 3-2. The winner gets UAB or Temple in Wednesday’s semifinal, with the title match and the league’s NCAA automatic bid on the line Saturday, Nov. 14.
🔼 Punching Their Ticket. Sweep nights are fun, and this one came with a conference tournament berth attached! The Owls took down South Florida 25-12, 25-18, 25-22 behind seven kills and three aces from Olivia Hart, six kills on .444 hitting from Sequoia Layne, and 22 assists from Maya Van Heyst. Isabelle Northam anchored the back row with a match-best 14 digs while Anna Hartman led the way at the net with four blocks.
🔼 Owls Hit the Sand. Two Florida Atlantic pairs head to the AVCA Fall Beach National Championships, running today through Sunday. Denisse Morgenstern and Ava Koehl carry the higher seed at No. 19 and open against Tulane’s Tawny Ensign and Kaydence Stormes at 12:45 p.m. ET. 🔼 October’s Best. Tina Genoulaz was tabbed the American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for October after a three-shot win at the Richmond Spider Invitational, where she went 73-71-71 to finish at one under. The victory helped push the Owls to a share of the team title and marked her second career win in two seasons. The sophomore closed the fall leading Florida Atlantic in scoring average, birdies, and rounds at par or better.
📸 Owlflics of the Week. The latest “Owlflics,” presented by Baptist Health South Florida, is live with the best shots from a packed week in Paradise. Kanaan Carlyle’s slam dunk against LIU, Xavi Csato celebrating his Senior Night goal, Easton Messer quieting the crowd at North Texas, and Jaelynn Housey in her college debut all made the cut. The men’s soccer Senior Day ceremony rounds it out.
🔼 Passing It Down. Florida Atlantic baseball has been coaching Boca Raton Little League teams since 2008, a partnership that’s now stretched past 15 years. Owls commit a full semester to working with young players, helping them build skills while serving as role models. John McCormack says watching his guys interact with the kids is the best part.
WPBF 25 IS PROUD TO BE AN OFFICIAL MEDIA PARTNER OF FLORIDA ATLANTIC ATHLETICS.
🔼 Owls in the NFL. Two former Owls saw the field in Week 8. Trey Hendrickson posted season highs in both snaps (58) and tackles (four) for Baltimore against Buffalo, adding a quarterback hit in his fifth straight game played. James Pierre picked off Jared Goff for Minnesota, the first interception thrown by Goff all season, and now has multiple picks in a single year for the first time in his career.
