Good morning, Owls Family. Florida Atlantic men's basketball Head Coach John Jakus met with the media on Monday to discuss the upcoming competition for the Owls. He discussed the first week in Charleston and previewed the 2024 Charleston Classic, with the Owls facing Oklahoma State on Thursday, November 21, at 2:30 p.m. ET.

🔼 Frosh Off the Presses. Leading the Owls to a pair of wins over North Florida, 50-41, and Bethune-Cookman, 78-49, Erin Rodgers was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week. The honor marks the second weekly honor for the Owls this season and back-to-back awards for Rodgers.
 
Rodgers had a tremendous week for the Owls, leading the team offensively in a pair of wins over North Florida and Bethune-Cookman. Rodgers tallied a team-leading 28 points, averaging 14 points per game, shooting 63 percent (12-of-19) from the field, adding 13 rebounds, averaging 6.5 per contest, and adding four assists and a steal across the two games.

🔼 Proceed to the Panthers. The Florida Atlantic Owls couldn't overcome fourth-quarter struggles on Tuesday, falling 75-63 on the road against the Stetson Hatters in DeLand.
 
The Owls close out their road trip this weekend, heading south on Saturday, Nov. 23, to take on rival FIU. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. inside Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

🔼 Preview of What’s to Come in Paradise. The Florida Atlantic Coaches Show, presented by Duffy's Sports Grill, returns today from 12-1 p.m. ET at the Duffy's Sports Grill Boca Raton.

Host and voice of the Owls, Ken LaVicka, will be joined by a trio of coaches preparing for their spring 2025 seasons. Softball Head Coach Jordan Clark will kick off the show by discussing last season's regular-season championship, the program's first appearance in the NCAA Regionals since 2016, and looking ahead to 2025. Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Alex Smolka will discuss the program's historic fall XC season that rewrote school record books. Finally, Baseball Head Coach John McCormack will preview the baseball season as he enters his 17th year at the helm.

🔼 Dynamic Duo. Matas Vokietaitis and Kaleb Glenn of the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team received American Athletic Conference Weekly Honors for the second week of the 2024-25 regular season. 

For the first time in his career, Vokietaitis was named AAC Freshman of the Week after participating in the 2024 Field of 68 Tip-Off event. Vokietaitis recorded six points with a career-high of nine rebounds in 20 minutes in the double-overtime game against Charleston, followed by a career-high of 17 points with six boards to lead the Owls in a win over Liberty. Sophomore forward Glenn was named AAC Weekly Honorable Mention after recording a career-high 27 points on Friday evening against Charleston.

🔼 Ru Rules. Leading the Owls to a four-set win over Tulane and securing the No. 6-seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament this past weekend, Kaila Ru was recognized as AAC honorable mention. The recognition marks Ru's second weekly honor this season and her second career honorable mention nod after she earned the AAC honor roll last season.
 
Ru was a significant offensive and defensive contributor for the Owls this week against UAB and Tulane. Ru tallied 16 kills and a team-leading 10 blocks, including four solo, to go along with three digs and an assist over the Owls' two matches.

🔼 A Senior Salute. Florida Atlantic football returns to FAU Stadium to host Charlotte this Saturday, Nov. 23, in their final home matchup of the 2024 season. The game, airing on ESPN+, will kick off at 3 p.m. The afternoon also marks Senior Day for the Owls. Florida Atlantic will honor and celebrate the seniors during a pregame ceremony.

It's a family thing. My whole family played football. It was the best way to get out of a bad situation. It was a way to get out of the house, pass the time, and have fun, which turned into a love for the game. I have not done it alone. My whole family was a big supporter of me in football and whatever I wanted to do.

My aspirations after college are for the league, and I have done some things to go into law enforcement or public safety. I have talked to the Boca Raton Police Department and the Fire Chief in Miami-Dade. While I have been training for the league, I have become a licensed security guard and a certified bartender. 

🔼 The Dotted Line. For National Signing Day, Florida Atlantic softball Head Coach Jordan Clark announced seven newcomers to join the Owls in the fall of 2025.
