Good Morning, FAU Fam. It’s GAME DAY! FAU men’s hoops is back on the hardwood tonight. The Owls arrive with momentum: an undefeated preseason capped by Mason Porter-Brown’s buzzer-beating three to steal one from The Citadel.

Kanaan Carlyle went for 24 in that game and played 39 of 40 minutes, while Josh Harris averaged a double-double across the exhibition slate. Eight transfers and three true freshmen make their debuts, with John Jakus looking to stay perfect in openers at FAU. Tickets available here.

🔼 Season’s Here. Florida Atlantic women’s basketball tips off the season tonight at Miami, taking the floor at the Watsco Center at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. LeAnn Freeland’s second-year group returns leading scorer Erin Rodgers, who closed last season with three straight 20-point games, and Grace Carstensen, the best returning 3-point shooter in the American.

🔼 Primetime in Paradise. Florida Atlantic hosts UTSA on ESPN on Thursday night, and the athletics department is stacking the gameday with extras. Publix Paradise Plaza opens at 5 p.m. with food trucks and inflatables before a Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars tribute band takes the stage, beer gardens run from 7 p.m. through the first quarter, and dollar hot dogs are available all night. Rally towels go out at all four gates, LED lighting effects run throughout the seating bowl, and Flagler Credit Union is handing out cash for every Owl touchdown.

🔼 Punching the Ticket. Florida Atlantic men’s soccer took care of business in the regular season finale, beating UAB 3-2 in Birmingham to clinch a spot in the American Conference Tournament. Emil Lausten, Michel Tentchou, and David Jesus each found the net, with DJ Koulai and Jesus providing the assists. Alfred Mikkelsen made three saves across the full 90, including a stop on Lucas Nordin in the final seconds, and the quarterfinals open Nov. 6.

🔼 Rally in the Roundhouse. Florida Atlantic volleyball climbed out of a 2-1 hole at Wichita State, taking the final two sets to win in five and pull into a tie for the American Conference lead. Sara Gamboa paced the attack with 17 kills while Anna Hartman added 12 and tied a career high with seven blocks, and Maya Van Heyst put up 51 assists and 13 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. 🔼 Best in Years. Florida Atlantic cross country turned in its strongest conference showing since joining the American, with the women taking sixth in a 13-team field and the men posting their best point total in league play. The women’s finish matches the program’s best since 2020 and is its highest overall since a runner-up showing in 2010, with all five scorers crossing 51st or better. Carter Dieterich led the men for the fourth straight meet and earned American All-Freshman Team honors for it. The NCAA South Regionals are up next mid-month.

🔼 Walk-On Grind. Last week’s “Inside The Owls’ Burrow” followed Darius Smith through a full day, from early morning meetings to a nighttime class. Smith enrolled at Florida Atlantic to continue his education and landed on the roster through an open tryout in February 2025, and he’s since worked his way onto the travel squad in his second year with the program.
