Paradise Brew 11/15: This Heaven? It's Field of 68

FAU Men's Basketball hits Charleston for the multi-team event, Field of 68

Good morning, Owls Family. The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team's lengthy road trip will park in Charleston, South Carolina, to participate in two multi-team events. First up is the Field of 68 Tip-Off, with the Owls taking on host Charleston on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. ET, and Liberty on Saturday, Nov. 16, with a 6 p.m. tip-off. Exclusive coverage can be found on the Field of 68's YouTube channel.
 
This will mark the second of a three-year round-robin. FAU hosted the inaugural edition at the Eleanor R. Baldwin in 2023, sweeping Charleston and Liberty. The Cougars will hold this year's at the TD Arena, with the Flames scheduled to host in 2025.

🔼 The Better Bird Schooled ‘Em. A fourth-quarter rally helped propel the Florida Atlantic Owls to a 50-41 win over the North Florida Ospreys on Education Day Wednesday at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. FAU improves to 2-1 on the season.

Erin Rodgers and Ta'Ziah Jenks led the Owls offensively, scoring double-figures against the Ospreys. Rodgers posted a game-leading 13 points, while Ta'Ziah finished with a team-second-best 11 points. Jenks also posted the Owls' first double-double of the season, tying for a team-high ten rebounds on the day.

🔼 No Double-A Batteries Needed. Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books, with six former Florida Atlantic Owls seeing action.

- After missing three games due to injury, Al-Shaair returned to action in prime time, taking on the Detroit Lions. He did not miss a beat in 61 snaps, logging eight tackles, two for a big loss, and forced a fumble. The Texans ultimately fell on a last-second field goal by a score of 26-23.

🔼 Calling All Heroes and Sheroes. Florida Atlantic football offers FREE tickets for "heroes" to the Saturday, Nov. 23 game when the Owls play host to Charlotte. The Owls will also salute the seniors in a game scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. ET in FAU Stadium.

🔼 Owl About Football. Episode 14 of Florida Atlantic's Inside the Owls' Burrow airs on Friday, Nov. 15, at 4:30 p.m. ET and again on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. The show originates on FanDuel Sports Network Florida (formerly Bally Sports Florida) but can be viewed on fausports.com and YouTube.

Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Omari Hayes, the Owls leading receiver, will be featured along with the personal story of safety Jayden Williams, a redshirt junior who returned from a 2023 health scare. "Where Are They Now?" catches up with former Owl receiver and special teams player Blake Bierman.

🔼 Head and Shoulders Above the Rest. Florida Atlantic's swimming and diving teams have earned their third Diver of the Week honor for the men, fourth overall for the 2024-25 season. Sophomore Trevor Kuhn has been named the ASUN Diver of the Week, his third career ASUN Diver of the Week honor and first of this season.
 
Competing in the South Florida Diving Invitational on Friday & Saturday, Kuhn swept both the men's 1m and 3m diving events. In the 1m dive, Kuhn won with a total score of 314.63, 43.43 points higher than the next finisher. The 3m dive was no different, with Kuhn earning the victory after posting a total score of 315.08, again 40 points above the next finisher.

🔼 Homing in On Some Dubs. Florida Atlantic volleyball is set to wrap up its regular season slate this weekend as the Owls host UAB tonight and Tulane on Sunday, Nov. 17, for Senior Weekend. The seniors will be recognized on Sunday following the match against Tulane. Friday's first serve is set for 6 p.m. ET, while Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.

FAU enters this weekend's matches at 15-11 on the season and 5-5 in AAC play. The Owls' offensive leaders are Katelynn Robine and Valeria Rosado. Robine boasts a team-leading 296 kills, averaging 3.08 kills per set. The Owls' block is led by Kaila Ru, averaging 1.22 blocks per set.

🔼 Tally Ho. Florida Atlantic's men's and women's cross-country teams will travel to Tallahassee today for the 2024 NCAA Regionals, with the races airing on ESPN+. The women will run the 6K at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the men will take on a 10K run at 9:30 a.m.

Florida Atlantic looks to continue to carry the success season of the 2024 season. On Oct. 11, the Owls set new program marks at Apalachee Regional Park, with Constance Pittet breaking a 14-year school record.

The No. 13 Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team (7-1) concluded the Field of 68 Classic with a rousing 81-69 victory over Charleston (4-4). A second-half offensive explosion and defensive shutdown took place in front of an electric FAU crowd, with Florida Atlantic outscoring Charleston 50-28.
