📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Bye One, Get One. Florida Atlantic football hits its bye week riding a four-game winning streak, a perfect 3-0 at home, and first place in the American Conference standings, and fans can lock in the next two home games at a discount. The Bye One Get One deal covers Rice on Saturday, Oct. 24 and UTSA on Thursday, Nov. 5, but it only runs through Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. The Owl Raid offense ranks top 20 nationally in both passing yards and first downs, and the defense has surrendered just three second-half points over the last three weeks.

🔼 Three Minutes. Florida Gulf Coast broke a scoreless night in the 86th minute Tuesday, and Florida Atlantic men’s soccer needed less than three minutes to answer. Enzo Rabot buried a left-footed strike in the 89th off a sequence from Kevin Gorbell and Francesco Aiello to salvage a 1-1 draw, then nearly won it with another attempt blocked in the final seconds. The two sides matched each other all night with 16 shots and five saves apiece, and Alfred Mikkelsen turned away five for the Owls.

🔼 Record Round. Florida Atlantic men's golf torched the final round at the West Collegiate Invitational, shooting 19-under 269 as a team to set a program record for lowest single-round score versus par, breaking a mark that had stood since the 2002-03 season. The charge moved the Owls up four spots to eighth overall at 16-under. NaShawn Tyson led the way with a bogey-free 65 built on seven birdies, vaulting 29 places up the leaderboard to tie for 19th. Freshman Tristan Rhodenizer closed with a 66 to tie for 11th, and fellow freshman Conor Whalen tied for fifth competing as an individual.

🔼 Hardware All Around. Florida Atlantic's record-setting night against Texas Southern brought a haul of American Conference recognition. Leonard Farrow took Special Teams Player of the Week after tying the FBS single-game record with two kick return touchdowns, a 98-yarder to open the game and a 92-yarder six minutes later. Kelby Valsin and Wilky Denaud earned honorable mentions, with Valsin hauling in three touchdowns in the second quarter alone and Denaud scooping a fumble 31 yards for a score. Six Owls have now been honored by the league in four weeks. FAU sits atop the conference standings at 4-1 entering its bye.

🔼 Tyler Rose Recognition. Kelby Valsin's three-touchdown second quarter against Texas Southern earned him Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week honorable mention, an award given to the top collegiate player from the state of Texas. The Arlington native set a career high with 126 receiving yards and did it all before halftime, helping FAU to a program-record 49 points at the break. He now leads the Owls with 40 catches, 512 yards, and five touchdown grabs, all of which rank inside the national top 11.

🔼 Wall At The Net. FAU volleyball’s Sequoia Layne piled up 16 blocks across two matches to earn American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the first conference honor of her career. The junior posted a career-best 10 blocks against Temple on Friday, four of them solo, then followed with six more in the weekend finale against Rice. She also chipped in 15 kills over the two matches. It's the sixth weekly award for FAU volleyball this season. The Owls head back on the road Friday at Temple.

🔼 Two More Honors. Florida Atlantic women's soccer picked up a pair of American Conference weekly awards after last Thursday's 3-0 shutout of South Florida. Lola Hathorne took Freshman of the Week for the third time, assisting on the game-winner two minutes in and scoring herself three minutes later. Lily Holden earned her first career conference recognition with an Honorable Mention nod after making six saves for her first full collegiate clean sheet, the Owls' first league shutout in nearly two years. FAU hits the road this week for North Texas and Tulsa.

🔼 Sharpshooter Returns. Grace Carstensen enters the 2026-27 season as the 17th-ranked returning 3-point shooter in the country and the top returner in the American Conference. The Illinois native hit .416 from beyond the arc last season, good for 24th nationally and second in the league, while leading Florida Atlantic in made threes with 69. She posted 11 double-figure scoring games, including a career-best 19 points in her Owl debut.

🔼 Back On Familiar Floor. Vladislav Goldin found himself at Abessinio Court again, this time in a Miami HEAT uniform, as the team held preseason training camp inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. The former Owl big man spent three seasons in Boca Raton, including the 2023 Final Four run, before signing a two-way deal with the HEAT. He averaged 11.3 points and 7.0 rebounds with the Sioux Falls Skyforce as a rookie and appeared in nine games with Miami. FAU caught up with him while he was back in the building.

🔼 Five More Years. Florida Atlantic Athletics has extended its partnership with Baptist Health through a five-year agreement, keeping the organization as the Official Medical Team of FAU Athletics. The deal brings expanded branding across campus facilities, including Baptist Health Gate 1 at Flagler Credit Union Stadium and permanent signage at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena and the baseball stadium. Baptist Health served as the game entitlement partner for Saturday's win over Texas Southern, handing out cooling towels at the gate, and Owl football players visited Boca Raton Regional Hospital earlier that week to thank healthcare workers.

WPBF 25 IS PROUD TO BE AN OFFICIAL MEDIA PARTNER OF FLORIDA ATLANTIC ATHLETICS.
