🔼 Road Winners. FAU football is heading home with an American Conference win in a thrilling 27-21 road victory over Rice in Houston. QB Caden Veltkamp lit up the field, throwing for three touchdown passes and 290 yards; two of those touchdowns went to TE Michael Kirch. WR Asaad Waseem added another touchdown reception, his team-leading fourth of the season, as the Owls clinched the victory. Messer, who leads the nation in catches per game, didn’t show any signs of slowing down, hauling in 11 catches for 110 yards, including a 55-yard reception.

Next up? FAU will welcome UAB to Paradise on Saturday, Oct. 11 with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

🔼 Conference Leaders. With Friday night’s win over Missouri State, Florida Atlantic climbed to 3-0 in the American Conference, becoming the only 3-0 team in the league. The Owls continued their trend of staying undefeated this year when scoring the first goal, and FAU’s Sebastian Zettl got the scoring started in the 34th minute. Mamadou Diarra would go on to deliver the game-winning goal in the 74th minute as Florida Atlantic secured the 2-1 win.

Next up? FAU hosts FGCU on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in a non-conference battle before returning to American Conference play on Oct. 12 against Memphis.

🔼 Undefeated Weekend. FAU volleyball posted back-to-back wins this weekend, beating Temple, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon after winning three straight sets to secure the 4-1 win over North Texas.

On Friday night, Olivia Hart and Kayla Richardson dominated the scoring for the Owls with Hart posting 14 kills, while Richardson hit a team-leading .435 in addition to her 11 kills. Victoria Hensley led the squad with 17 assists, securing her first double-double of the season.

During Sunday’s matinee, Hart led the way with a team-high 15 kills, while Isabelle Northam’s 20 digs was the best on the day for the Owls.

Next up, FAU will travel to Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 10, then East Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 12.

The women’s team finished as runners-up. In total, the Owls posted 15 first-place wins and finished the meet’s second day with 17 top-three performances.

The Owls are off next weekend before competing in a dual meet at home against the defending NAIA National Champions, the Keiser Seahawks, on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m.
