Paradise Brew 10/23: Lightning Struck Twice

After rescheduling a game against the Hatters in August due to lightning, FAU Men's Soccer wins 5-1

Good morning, Owls Family. Florida Atlantic men's soccer completed a 5-1 win over Stetson on Tuesday afternoon, less than two months after the match was halted due to lightning on August 29.

The Owls started the day with a 3-1 lead thanks to Mamadou Diarra’s hat trick in August. After 37 minutes remaining in the second half, they would add two more to that total with goals from Ajay Stewart and Noel Williamson, each scoring for the first time in their respective FAU careers.

Officially, it will go down as the Owls' first win of the season while at the same time bringing their season record to 6-4-3.

🦉 ONE BIG THING

Why Yes, That is MBB On the Calendar. Soccer (part two!) against Stetson is under our belts, but make sure to mark your calendars for men’s hoops and women’s soccer!

The Answer: Baylor!

John Jakus spent the last 12 seasons on staff at Baylor (2012-2014 and 2017-2024) and Gonzaga University (2014-2017), coaching under two of college basketball’s most successful head coaches: Baylor’s Scott Drew and Gonzaga’s Mark Few.

Coach Jakus helped lead Baylor to six NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 appearances, and the 2021 National Championship title. During his tenure, the team had a 217-86 overall record and a 100-58 record in Big 12 Conference play.

🦉 Happy Wednesday, y’all!
