🔼 Two Owls Get The Nod. Florida Atlantic picked up a pair of preseason honors in voting by the American Conference’s 13 head coaches, with Felipe Quinones named Preseason Freshman of the Year and Kanaan Carlyle landing on the Preseason All-Conference First Team.
Quinones arrives as a consensus four-star recruit out of Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, ranked 74th nationally by ESPN and 11th among players from Florida. Carlyle returns after averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while setting career highs nearly across the board, and he’s the second-leading scorer among all returning American players. The Owls were picked eighth in the coaches’ poll and open the season Nov. 2 at home against LIU.

🔼 Nobody’s Scoring On Them. Three straight conference wins, three straight shutouts; Florida Atlantic hasn’t allowed a goal in over 270 minutes, and yesterday’s 3-0 win at Tulsa was the cleanest yet. Lola Hathorne converted a penalty in the 19th to get things started, Sephora Joachim doubled it in the 64th, and Sutton Markee capped it in the 74th with her second goal in as many matches. Lily Holden stuffed a Tulsa penalty kick two minutes after Joachim’s goal, one of five saves in her third consecutive clean sheet. It’s the program’s first three-match shutout streak since 2022 and the first in conference play since the spring 2021 season. East Carolina visits Thursday at 7 p.m.

🔼 On To Conference Championships. Florida Atlantic’s women closed the regular season two points shy of third place at the FSU XC Invitational, putting four runners in the top 20 of a 138-woman 6K field. Kate Drummond led the way for the third straight meet, finishing ninth in 22:31.7, with Anabell Reumann 14th in her first 6K of 2026, Gaby Castro 19th, and Madison Brown 20th. Evie Lebrun set a personal record as the fifth Owl across. On the men’s side, freshman Carter Dieterich paced the squad for the third race in a row with a 27:30.8 in the 8K. Up next is the American Conference Championships on Oct. 31 in New Orleans.

🔼 Weekend Win. Down two sets to one against an East Carolina team that came in 5-1 and alone atop the American, Florida Atlantic won the final two sets of the night and walked out with a 3-2 stunner. Olivia Hart was a problem all night with 20 kills, Maya van Heyst ran the show with 47 assists, and Isabelle Northam and Zoe Winford each dug out 14.
