Paradise Brew 1/20: Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
As we celebrate victories, moments and stories in each and every Brew, we pause to honor a man who moved our country and our society forward in so many ways.
Good morning, Owls Family.

Today, we pause to honor a man who moved our country and our society forward in so many ways. As we celebrate victories, moments and stories in each and every Brew, let us remember those who helped pave the paths before us.
We hope you enjoy this mini-Brew, or just a sip if you will. We’ll be back with your Venti-sized goodness tomorrow.
What else do we have mixed into today’s Brew? Check it out below!

🔼 Rice Wasn’t Ready For That Elly Jelly. The Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team took down Rice in a last second thriller at the Elly, winning 75-73 on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls of FAU (10-9, 3-3 AAC) overcame a 16-point second half deficit, closing the game on a 12-2 run. With the game tied and the ball in FAU's hands, junior forward Baba Miller drew the foul and got to the line with two seconds remaining. He swished both free throws to give Florida Atlantic the victory. Junior forward Tre Carroll led the way for the Owls in scoring (17 points), rebounds (9), and assists (5), the latter two marking his career highs.

🔼 Truly Dynamic Duo. Florida Atlantic women's tennis defeated Minnesota by a 4-0 score on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls are off to a stellar start with wins over a ranked ACC opponent in Miami last Thursday and a win over Big 10 foe Minnesota on Sunday. Much of that success can be attributed to the play of seniors Lexi Silna and Millie-Mae Matthews. The duo is undefeated in dual match play in singles action and remains perfect in doubles play.

🔼 In Sweeping Fashion. The Florida Atlantic men's and women's Swimming & Diving teams wrapped up Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in strong fashion. The Owls last home meet of the season versus St. Thomas and Indian River (diving) saw countless first place finishes for Florida Atlantic leading to victories on both the men's and women's side.
For Senior Day, the Owls honored their 20 departing athletes sending them off with a clean sweep.

🔼 Setting the Pace. The FAU women's track & field team competed in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational for their first meet of the indoor season, landing six new program records.
In the 1,000-meter run, Florida Atlantic had four in the top 10—Rosa ten Berg, Jessica Hatch, Constance Pittet, and Elyssa Toal—with ten Berg now ranked No. 1 in the record book in the 1,000-meter. Hatch and Pittet also joined the FAU all-time top three in the 1000m with times of 2:53.45 (second all-time) and 2:54.62 (third all-time) respectively.

🔼 Homebound. Florida Atlantic women's basketball fell on the road to in-state rival South Florida, 85-59, on Saturday in Tampa.
Mya Perry and Ta'Ziah Jenks led the way for the Owls with 14 points and 12 points, respectively.
The Owls return to Boca Raton this week as they prep to host a pair of home contests against the Charlotte 49ers and the North Texas Mean Green.
