Good morning.  Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team (15-4, 4-1 AAC) has moved up to No. 22 in the AP Top 25, marking the 13th consecutive week in which FAU is ranked in the AP Top 25—the 10th longest streak in the nation.

The Owls have won four straight games. Over the past week, they picked up two key AAC victories—a home win over Wichita State by a score of 86-77, followed by an OT victory against UTSA on the road, 112-103.

Junior guards Johnell Davis and Alijah Martin were an unstoppable duo on offense, combining for 101 points on 59% shooting in the last two games.

🔼 Scorching Hot Streak. The No. 22 Florida Atlantic men's basketball team (15-4) will wrap up their two-game Texas road trip with a Conference USA matchup against Rice (7-11) tonight, tipping off at 8pm ET.

With a four-game winning streak, the FAU Owls return to the city of Houston for the first time since their Final Four appearance on Apr. 1, 2023.

Florida Atlantic currently holds the matchup advantage between the two teams at 6-4 and has won the last four. In their two games in the 2022-23 season, the Owls of Florida Atlantic scored 90 points and 103 points, respectively. FAU will look to continue that run and is on an offensive tear to do so, averaging 92.5 points per game during their current four-game stretch.

Florida Atlantic will return home to the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Sunday, Jan. 28, to face North Texas (11-6, 4-1). The game will tip off at 1pm ET.

🔼 May’s Media Monday. Florida Atlantic men's basketball head coach Dusty May held his weekly press conference on Monday, talking virtually with the media to discuss the No. 22 Owls, who remain on the road for a showdown at Rice tonight.

It was a good time for the presser, with Florida Atlantic (15-4, 5-1 AAC) coming off an overtime thriller at UTSA on Sunday, a game in which preseason co-AAC Players of the Year Johnell Davis and Alijah Martin combined for 60 points in a 112-103 come-from-behind road win.

May calls the high scores from recent games a “blessing and a curse." He’s proud of his explosive offense but also notes that they’re going to be “getting back to our defensive focus,” calling the offense “the icing on the cake.”

“We’re still evolving on both sides of the basketball,” May said, “we’re finding the right times to use those guys [Davis and Martin] as screeners…as decoys…”

“This is where we are, and we know where we need to get to.”
