Good morning. For the first time in program history, the Florida Atlantic volleyball team will continue their season in the 2023 National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
 
The Owls are heading to El Paso, Texas, to take on UT Arlington (20-10) on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7pm ET inside Memorial Gym. Host UTEP will then face off against North Texas at 9:30pm ET. Winners of both contests will advance to the NIVC second round set for Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4pm ET.

FAU's remarkable 2023 season, 20-12, marked the Owls' first 20-win season since 2018 and the seventh 20-win season in program history, as well as the second most wins for any Owl team under head coach Fernanda Nelson.

🔼 V is For Victory…and Valeria. After leading the Owls to their best season since 2018 and head coach Fernanda Nelson's second 20-win season, Valeria Rosado was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team on Tuesday.
 
Rosado had a tremendous season for the Owls, both offensively and defensively. She helped lead the Owls' offense to a second-place AAC finish in kills per set (13.50). Rosado was also a major anchor for the Owls’ back row, registering 300 digs and averaging 2.61 per set this season. She also ranked fifth on the team with 34 blocks and added 21 assists and 16 service aces during the 2023 campaign.

The Orlando, Florida, native led the Owls with a team-best 10 double-doubles this season. She tallied a career-best 24 kills during the Owls' five-set upset against Wichita State and a career-best 22 digs during Florida Atlantic's battle against AAC Champion SMU. She was also named AAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 13 and was named to the AAC weekly honor roll on Oct. 2.

Rosado will certainly play a pivotal role in the Owls’ postseason match this Friday.

🔼  Just Getting Started. Junior guard Alijah Martin of the No. 13 Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team was named AAC Player of the Week on Monday.
 
The Owls went 3-0 in the 2023 ESPN Events Invitational in Kissimmee, Florida, and Martin finished the tournament with 55 points, averaging 18.3 points per game. He recorded a total of five steals, six assists, 10 three-pointers, and 17 rebounds. 

For the first time this season, Martin recorded a start against Butler and remained in the starting five throughout the weekend. Against Virginia Tech, he went 3-4 from beyond the arc and 5-9 from the field in 28 minutes played.

FAU is back at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena for the three-team Field of 68 Classic, hosting Liberty on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. and Charleston on Saturday, Dec. 2. Both games will tip off at 6pm ET and air on ESPNU.

🔼 Poll Position. The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team (5-1) has moved up to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
 
This follows a week that saw the Owls storm through three games in four days to win the 2023 ESPN Events Invitational. FAU was an offensive force to be reckoned with after rediscovering their shooting touch, averaging 90.3 points per game on 54.2% shooting from the field and 43.2% from beyond the arc.
 
The always well-balanced Owls received contributions from many players, led by tournament MVP Alijah Martin, who averaged 18.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds. He was supplemented by junior guard Johnell Davis (17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals), senior guard Jalen Gaffney (11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists), senior guard Bryan Greenlee (11.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals) and junior big man Vlad Goldin (14.3 points on just two missed shots, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks).
