Chris Newbold joins the Florida Atlantic Sports Network broadcast team for the 2024 season
Good Morning, Owl Nation. Florida Atlantic Athletics, in conjunction with multimedia rights holder Playfly, has announced its Florida Atlantic Sports Network broadcast team for the 2024 season. Chris Newbold, who played offensive line for the Owls from 2007 to 2011, joins Ken LaVicka and Mike Mreczko in the booth this season, with Frank Forte on the sidelines.
"We are thrilled to be adding former Owl Chris Newbold to the Florida Atlantic Sports Network," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White. "I can't wait to hear Ken, Chris, Mike, and Frank calling our games. I'm so glad to have him back in Paradise and on our radio network."

🔼 Based Off Good Grades. The Florida Atlantic University baseball team has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award, as bestowed by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and presented by Sports Attack, for the fifth consecutive season.
The squad earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.215 for the full year. Coaches could nominate their teams for the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award following the conclusion of their spring semesters before the nomination deadline of July 14.
🔼 In His Element. Florida Atlantic senior men's golfer Jack Wehle has been named a Cobalt Golf All-American Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be highly moral and in good standing at their college or university. Whew!
