After being named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List, punter Logan Lupo lands on the "Ray 8"

Good Morning, Owl Nation. A redshirt junior punter for the Florida Atlantic football team, Logan Lupo, has been nominated as one of the Ray Guy Award's "Ray 8" for Week 2, as announced on Monday afternoon.
 
The "Ray 8" consists of the eight best punting performances each week. Fans can vote online for their top choice.
 
Lupo continued his strong start to the season against Army. Two of his four punts went for 50+ yards and landed inside the 20, going for an average of 48.2 yards per punt with a long of 58. 
 
He ranks fourth all-time in program history on average yards per punt (44.30). Lupo has also been named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List for the season, awarded to the nation's best punter.

🔼 A Whole New Frontier. Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team, led by Head Coach John Jakus in his first season at the helm, has announced their 2024-25 non-conference schedule. 

The Owls' 13-game non-conference slate begins Nov. 4 against Indiana State. It is highlighted by power conference matchups against Michigan State, Oklahoma State, and UCF, a potential tilt against Miami in the Charleston Classic, and in-state battles with FIU, FGCU, and Jacksonville.

On the heels of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in school history, Florida Atlantic enters this highly anticipated campaign under Jakus and his new staff with a roster that welcomes 11 new faces on the court.

🔼 Coaches on the Mic. 🎤 The Florida Atlantic Coaches Show, presented by Duffy's Sports Grill, returns TODAY, from 12-1 p.m. at Duffy's Sports Grill Boca Raton.

Hagerty Family Head Coach Tom Herman is the featured guest throughout the fall. He is joined this week by Co-Defensive Coordinator/Cornerback Coach Brandon Harris and host and voice of the Owls, Ken LaVicka. Herman will look back at the home opener against fellow American Athletic Conference member Army West Point and preview the Shula Bowl featuring his Owls versus FIU, kicking off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.

🔼 Football, Fun, and Philanthropy. For the fourth consecutive year and in collaboration with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Athletics and Cereal4All, Boca Helping Hands (BHH) will commemorate September's Hunger Action Month by hosting a Tackle Hunger Cereal Drive during the FAU vs. FIU football game. The game will take place this Saturday, Sept. 14, at 6:00 p.m. ET at the FAU Stadium. Those who donate one or more cereal boxes will get a free ticket to the game. On game day, unopened cereal boxes can be dropped at the stadium (Gate 1). 

🔼 Sullivan’s Slate. Head Coach Jennifer Sullivan has announced the FAU women’s basketball non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season.
 
The Owls will compete in 13 non-conference contests, including six home games, the Owls' Thanksgiving Tournament, and a pre-Christmas tournament at Grand Canyon.
 
Before tipping off the 2024-25 season, the Owls will host the University of Fort Lauderdale for an exhibition contest on Oct. 29.
 
Florida Atlantic will tip off the 2024-25 season on the road as they head to Gainesville, Florida, on Thursday, Nov. 4, to take on Florida, marking the ninth all-time meeting between the Owls and the Gators.

🔼  It’s an Honor Just to Be Mentioned. After helping lead the Owls to a sweep over rival FIU and a 2-1 weekend at the Red Raider Classic with a five-set win over Green Bay and a four-set victory against Northern Arizona, Victoria Hensley was named AAC Weekly Honorable Mention.
 
The honor marks the second weekly award of the season for the Owls and Hensley's second career AAC weekly honorable mention.
 
Hensley helped power the Owls to a 3-1 week, which included a sweep over rival FIU, a five-set win vs. Green Bay, and a four-set victory over Northern Arizona.

The Owls return to the Sunshine State this weekend as they compete in the Seminole Classic on Friday & Saturday, Sept. 13-14, taking on Florida State and UCF.

🔼 A Course of Action. Florida Atlantic women's golf (914, +62) finished 15th at the Golfweek Fall Invite on Tuesday in South Carolina.

The Owls' best finisher was sophomore Giulia Scarcello in a tie for 52nd. The Italian closed with a 75 that included two birdies. Freshman Nancy Cox's one-over, 72, was the Owls' low round of the day on Tuesday. Cox circled four birdies, including three in her final five holes.
