Good Morning, Owl Nation. We’ve waited (somewhat) patiently for football season to arrive, and it’s officially upon us.

Florida Atlantic football opens the 2024 season TONIGHT against Michigan State at 7 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network and air on Fox Sports 640 AM South Florida.

Coach Tom Herman enters his second season at the helm of the Owls. Quarterback newcomer Cam Fancher will be under center.

Unfortunately, the first game of the season is at Michigan State, but that doesn’t mean you can’t rub elbows with your fellow Owls. Join Florida Atlantic Alumni and Community Engagement at Boca Raton's Mizner Park for an evening of celebration and the first football Watch Party of 2024.

🔼 Mother Nature Makes the Call. Florida Atlantic men's soccer led Stetson 3-1 after 53 minutes on Thursday when the game was suspended due to lightning. If both teams agree, the match may be resumed later in the season. No final decision was made on Thursday night. If at least 70 minutes are not completed, it's deemed a no-contest.

Before the suspension, Owls' senior striker Mamadou Diarra enjoyed a sensational home debut. Diarra scored all three FAU goals in the first half to record the Owls' first hat trick since September 2014.

🔼 Aces Wild. Florida Atlantic volleyball will kick off the 2024 season this weekend as the Owls host their annual Florida Atlantic Invitational today and tomorrow, Friday & Saturday, Aug. 30-31. Admission to all matches is free.

The Owls open the season on Friday, Aug. 30, against Bryant at noon and then finish their opening day against Seton Hall at 7 p.m. Florida Atlantic wraps up their season-opening weekend on Saturday, Aug. 31, taking on Ball State in the Florida Atlantic Invitational finale at 1 p.m.

🔼 Aaaaand They’re Off! The 2024 cross-country season has arrived for Florida Atlantic's men's and women's teams. They will begin their 2024 season with the tenth annual FAU Invitational, the team’s only home race of the season.

The competition will again take place at South County Regional Park, scheduled to begin tonight at 6:00 p.m..

The Owls are led by Head Coach Alex Smolka, who enters his 20th year at the helm of both cross-country teams. He is assisted by Associate Head Coach Georgette Nixon and Assistant Coach Sonja Friend-Uhl.

🔼 Pass With Flying Colors. This year's National College Colors Day event will be held TODAY from 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. on the Florida Atlantic Boca Raton Campus Diversity Housing Lawn.

Free food, live music, fun activities, campus store specials, Coca-Cola sampling, and an entry to win a Coca-Cola bike will be on tap. The Florida Atlantic Cheer and Dance teams will be on hand to lead the celebration. Fans and students are encouraged to participate by wearing their favorite school colors.

🔼 Goin’ Deep. In its ninth season, Florida Atlantic's "Inside the Owls Burrow" aired yesterday and will re-air today at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The show originates on Bally Sports Florida but can also be viewed on fausports.com and YouTube.

This week, Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Tom Herman discussed the season opener at Michigan State. Senior linebacker Desmond Tisdol was also featured in "Pads Off," while Michael Cibene, the Owls' edge coach, was wired for sound. The show will also catch up with former Owl DL Daniel Joseph.

🔼 All Heart. Willow and Palm Construction has announced an innovative partnership with NILinParadise to unlock the doors to opportunity for families in need. This collaboration aims to construct at least 36 new Habitat for Humanity homes in Palm Beach County while providing Florida Atlantic men's basketball and football with a lucrative Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) partnership.

Through this partnership, Florida Atlantic men's basketball and football players will roll up their sleeves to assist in building homes, distributing essentials, and supporting Habit’s noble mission. They will enhance the lives of deserving families, veterans, and citizens of South Florida while fostering a sense of gratitude and giving back in FAU student-athletes.

🔼 Onward and Upward. Florida Atlantic's women's soccer team fell to Alabama on Thursday evening in the Alabama Soccer Stadium.

The Owls will return to Boca Raton to play at their home stadium this Sunday, Sept. 1, against the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the match will be aired on ESPN+.
