Paradise Brew 10/27: Get in, Owls—We're Going Winning
Today, we talk Friday's familiar football foe and the history vs. the 49ers.
Good morning. Bring on the boomerang, as FAU is back at it. The Florida Atlantic University football team (3-4, 2-1 AAC) has no time to look back with tonight’s ESPN2 matchup against Charlotte, a familiar rival who joined Florida Atlantic in going from Conference USA to the American Athletic Conference.
This series began in 2015 with the home team FAU finding themselves on the losing end. That streak was snapped by the 2019 Owls, and that victory started the current four-game winning streak.

🔼 A Brown, A Viking, and a Steeler Walk Into a Game. No, it’s not a joke or a riddle. Week 7 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books, with three former Florida Atlantic Owls seeing action. Here's a rundown of how each performed during the seventh week:
Active Owls (3)
#88 Harrison Bryant | TE | Cleveland Browns
- Bryant recorded the start, his third of the season, and saw 17 total snaps on offense. He also played a season-high 19 snaps on special teams as the Browns eked out a 39-38 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

#1 Greg Joseph | K | Minnesota Vikings
- Joseph's booming leg came through yet again. For the second game in a row, he knocked in a field goal from 50+, this time a key 54-yarder to put the Vikings up by eight late in the third quarter during a tight Monday night battle with the San Francisco 49ers. He added two more field goals and three extra points, accounting for 50% of Minnesota's points in a primetime 22-17 victory.
Vikings' Record: 3-4
Next Game: at Green Bay – Sunday, 1pm ET (FOX)
#42 James Pierre | CB | Pittsburgh Steelers
- For the first time during the 2023 season, Pierre saw snaps on the defensive snap of the ball in the team's 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Of course, he remained a fixture on special teams with 18 snaps and had a downed key punt on the Rams' own 6-yard line.
Steelers' Record: 4-2

🔼 Blazing Trails. The New Era is about to officially begin for Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's cross country teams.
On Saturday morning, the Owls will compete in their first American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. The meet will be hosted by East Carolina in Grimesland, North Carolina.
The races will be broadcast on ESPN+. The men will take on an 8K run, beginning at 9:15am ET, while the women will run the 6K at 10.
Some of This Season’s Highlights:
The Owls opened up their season by hosting their ninth annual FAU Invitational. It was one of their most successful yet, with a fourth-place finish out of 18 teams and a sixth-place finish out of 16 for the men. For the men, Paul Glick has been the top finisher for the Owls in all three races.

🔼 We Meet Again. Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's swimming teams are back at the FAU Aquatic Center for a meet against Keiser, and this news is comin’ in hot as it kicks off today at 3pm ET.
The Owls return home after two successful meets on the road, the TYR Fall Classic, where both teams took first place, as well as a sweep against Florida Gulf Coast and Bellarmine.
Keiser is no team to sleep on, however, as both the men and women are No. 1 in the NAIA. The Owls competed against the Seahawks earlier in the season at the TYR Fall Classic.
