Florida Atlantic men's hoops played in 3 of the most-watched games by AAC teams this season
Good morning. FAU Men’s Basketball played in the three most-watched games by American Athletic Conference teams this season, including a regular-season school record of nearly one million viewers.
Last Saturday's thriller over Memphis — a 92-84 win — at sold-out Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena drew 922,000 viewers on CBS, making it the most-viewed regular season men's basketball game in school history.
Go here for more on the increase from last season, the other most-watched games, and all the program sellouts.

🔼 For All the Marbles. Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team will begin their postseason journey tonight at 7pm ET for their first game of the 2024 American Athletic Conference Tournament. If the Owls win, they will return to the court on Saturday at 5 p.m. EST
The No. 2 seeded Owls earned a bye from the first two days of the tournament and will now take on the winner of Thursday night's matchup between the No. 7 seed North Texas and No. 10 Tulane. Florida Atlantic has a combined 4-0 record between the two teams.

🔼 When a Black Bear Charges, You Fight. Florida Atlantic baseball will host the Maine Black Bears for a three-game series beginning tonight at 6:30pm ET. This is the final weekend non-conference series before AAC play gets underway next weekend against Charlotte. The Owls and Black Bears have met 13 times previously, with FAU holding a 9-4 edge.
The Owls have won four of the last five after knocking off Miami 6-4 on Tuesday night. Last weekend, FAU took two of three against FIU, including a lopsided 24-2 victory on Sunday. Sundays have been especially kind to the Owls in the last three weeks. They've scored 60 combined runs in series finale wins over Towson (16), Stonehill (20), and FIU (24).
🔼 Serving Up Sun, Sand, and Success. The No. 16 Florida Atlantic Sandy Owls (9-4, 2-0 CUSA) are set for a big weekend in their second home tournament of the year, hosting their Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational today and tomorrow (Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16) in Pompano Beach, Florida near the Pompano Beach Pier.
The Sandy Owls will open the weekend with a 7:50am ET first serve today against No. 5 TCU and then return to action on Saturday at 2:30pm ET against Palm Beach Atlantic.
🔼 Fast Friends? Nah, Fast Foes. The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team will begin an eventful outdoor season today at the USF Alumni Invitational, taking on the host and new AAC foe, USF.
Florida Atlantic's last outdoor competition was the 2023 CUSA Outdoor Championships—their final meet before entering the American Athletic Conference.
🔼 They Walk the Line. The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team won big in Thursday evening's match against visiting East Tennessee, 5-2. The match was the Owls' first outing in 10 days, and it came down to the narrowest of margins.
FAU captured each doubles court in the best-of-three match, with Mark Havlicek / Jiri Jenicek winning 7-5 on court #1. Courts #2 and #3 walked off at the same time. Court #2, featuring Alberto Colas / Juan Martin Jalif, was a 7-5 winner, and the FAU duo of John Bernard / Simon Myslivec won on #3 7-6 (9-7). With the win, Florida Atlantic moves to 12-4, while East Tennessee falls to 4-9.
🔼 Speaking Fluent Football. Spring Practice number two is in the books for Florida Atlantic's football team. What was noticeable was the number of former players on hand to watch an Owl team that is confident in what is being asked and players who are flying to the ball.
Players and coaches are speaking the same language and are more familiar with each other than in years past, allowing for faster play and development.
Read the article for more on what the coaches and players are saying about the promise of this upcoming football season.
🔼 Rivals Round-Up. The Florida Atlantic softball team (20-7, 2-1 AAC) will face UAB in the first American Athletic Conference matchup on Joan Joyce Field. The series begins today (Friday, March 15), with the first pitch at 6pm ET. Games two and three will follow on March 16 and 17.
The Owls enter their second conference series with a 2-1 record in the AAC. This matchup marks the first time these former Conference USA rivals face each other in the American Athletic Conference.
🔼 Blank Slate. While the Owls’ record-tying 11-match winning streak came to an end after dropping a 4-2 decision to Yale on Thursday, the squad will have an opportunity to start a new streak this morning at 10am ET by taking on American Athletic Conference member UTSA.
They will then play host to Boston University at 10am ET on Sunday, March 17.
🔼 Stepping Up to the Plate. On this week’s episode of “Mac’s Musings,” Coach Mac and Sam do an MLB wins draft with a twist. They also recap the win over Miami and give the bullpen its due, as well as several guys who have stepped up, given the rash of injuries so far this season. You’ll also get a quick preview of the weekend series with Maine.
