🔼 The Boys Of Summer. Nothing like enjoying the day at the ballpark this time of year, right?
Plenty of former Owls are doing more than just enjoying a day or two as 12 former Owls are competing at the professional level.
Three of those 12 are playing significant roles for their major league clubs with Austin Gomber (Rockies), Nolan Schanuel (Angels) and Pedro Pages (Cardinals) all shining in the bigs.
🔼 On This Day in FAU Sports ⏳. Speaking of the Boys of Summer, one of those former Owls is the subject of our “On This Day in FAU Sports.”
It was 20 years ago today that former FAU standout and current FAU Athletics Hall of Fame Jeff Fiorentino was named a Third Team All-American after a standout 2004 campaign.
That spring, Fiorentino launched 17 HRs and drove in 66 RBI, while scoring 84 runs, a single-season program record.
His efforts earned him a third round selection in the 2004 MLB Amatuer draft by the Baltimore Orioles, where he spent 10 seasons playing pro ball, including two stints at the MLB level with Baltimore and the Oakland A’s.

The Answer: Tim Harikkala.
Harikkala made his major league debut on May 27, 1995 for the Seattle Mariners, becoming the first former FAU baseball player to reach the bigs.
He went on to make MLB stints during six different seasons, last coming in 2007 with the Colorado Rockies.
