Paradise Brew 9/8: Back To Back

Today, we're looking for FAU football to do something they've only done once in program history.

Good morning. And Happy Game Day Eve to all who celebrate. Florida Atlantic Director of Athletics Brian White has lit the beacons and is calling for a packed stadium and a rocking atmosphere tomorrow night against Ohio. You have your marching orders.

What all can you find in today’s Brew?

🦉 And much, much more

📈 STOCK UP

Stock Up is brought to you by Go Solar Power, providing a full suite of solar panels, EV chargers, air conditioning, hot water systems, and more designed specifically for quality and savings.

🔼 Next One Up. FAU football is riding high after holding a top FCS running team to just 112 rushing yards and the nation's 2022 FCS rushing leader to 66 yards on just 2.8 yards per carry last week. And while the defense came away with the knowledge that while they had won the game, they still had room for improvement.

The Owls will face a much different task in this week's home contest against Ohio tomorrow night at 6:00pm ET. Here’s everything you need to know to watch, listen to, and experience the game!

🔼 Clean Sheet, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose. FAU women's soccer remained unbeaten at home with a 1-0 victory over Florida Gulf Coast last night. The win was Patrick Baker's 99th as head coach of the Owls.

FGCU controlled possession in the first half but Owls' goalkeeper Blythe Braun was there to weather the storm, making six saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the match deadlocked going into intermission.

The script was flipped in the second half. The Owls' attack turned up the pressure on the Eagles' backline. It paid off in the 51st minute. Olvia Bori and Daniella Diaz played a one-two down the right side. Diaz sent a cross into the box where Elin Simonardottir found just enough space to get a head to it and redirect it into the far corner. The Iceland native's team-leading fourth goal of the season held up as the winner as the FAU defense locked things down.

🔼 Fore Scored. Calling all golf enthusiasts, amateurs, and pros alike to come together for a day of competitive fun and camaraderie while supporting our FAU men’s basketball.

🦉 ONE BIG THING

Boca Helping Hands welcomed 150 adults and children at their annual Bowling for Bread event last month at Bowlero in Boca Raton, with kids from local children’s charities able to attend at no cost to enjoy an afternoon of bowling, food, prize giveaways, and special guests.

Special guests included Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, Palm Beach County Commissioner Marci Woodward, Boca Raton City Council Member Marc Wigder, and FAU football players—all cheering on the kids and bowl alongside them.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 2004

The only time that FAU has started a season with a 2-0 record was in 2004 when they took down Hawaii in overtime and squeaked out a close one against North Texas—with both victories coming on the road.

🦉 Have a good Friday and a great weekend, y’all.
