🔼 The Success of the Scott Drew Coach Portal. On the most recent episode of the Inside Baylor Sports podcast with Justin Hoff, Hoff asks the Director of Sports Journalism at Baylor, Jerry Hill, about head hoops coach Scott Drews’ ability to turn assistant coaches into head coaches at the D1 level, such as FAU’s newly-appointed men’s basketball coach John Jakus.

As Hill said, “I think the key is that he [Scott Drew] lets the guys coach…he actually has these guys working and coaching and they’re preparing.”

🔼 Conquering the Unconquered. No. 16 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball (14-13, 2-2 CUSA) closed out play in the FSU Unconquered Invitational on Saturday, earning wins over North Alabama (14-9), 3-2, and North Florida (16-10), 4-1. Julie Honzovicova and Ashleigh Adams finished the weekend perfect, earning another pair of wins to improve to 8-3 on the season.

The Sandy Owls return home next weekend as they host their Battle of the Beach Burrow tournament for Senior Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14.

🔼 Miami Heat 💨. Florida Atlantic women's Track & Field completed their second meet of the outdoor season at the University of Miami on Saturday. Many Owls took on different races than they are used to, while familiar faces posted impressive top-10 results.

Competing in the 400m for the first time this season, Rosa Ten Berg posted a time of 57.90 to lead FAU. Elyssa Toal earned a new best time in the 800m (2:14.56). Kayla Groppe set a new personal record in the 1500m (4:56.41).

🔼 A Lot on the Line. FAU football players gathered on Saturday morning with one mission: to put together the best two-hour tape possible. The scrimmage gave the players an opportunity to truly vie for a spot on the fall two-deep, knowing that come August, the focus will shift to game preparation.

"I told the guys out there coming into this that this is a really important scrimmage,” said head coach Tom Herman. “You always have to give those newcomers that show up in May a good shot, but after the 10th practice of training camp, your depth chart is pretty set going into the season, and it is really hard for a guy to make depth chart moves in the season without an injury to a guy ahead of him.”

🔼 Soccer Faces Australia in Melbourne…Florida. The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team will travel to Melbourne on Saturday, April 6, to play the Australian women's national team in a closed match on Saturday afternoon. The Australian women's national team is ranked no. 12 in the world. Florida Atlantic will face players from Manchester United, Leon, Manchester City, and more.

"Any time you get an opportunity to play some of the very best competition in the world, you have to take it,” said head coach Patrick Baker.

🔼 Florida Atlantic baseball dropped the series finale 8-6 to No. 12 East Carolina on Sunday afternoon. The Owls will play the next five games on the road, visiting Coral Gables for the first time this season to take on Miami at 6 p.m. EST tomorrow.
